Mccain

Washington Independent:

In a sign of continued weakness in his home state, an online poll shows Sen. John McCain trailing Sen. Barack Obama by 3-percentage points in Arizona. The poll also shows the candidacy of Libertarian Bob Barr is having a significant impact on McCain's campaign by siphoning off conservative voters nationwide.

The Arizona poll was part of nationwide Zogby International poll that put Obama ahead in total electoral votes with 273 to 160 for McCain. The poll found 11 states with 105 electoral votes too close to call -- including Arizona. McCain's campaign in June included Arizona among its list of swing states.

(Matt Mahurin) McCain not only faced problems with Independent voters, he is losing a small, but potentially lethal voting block of the GOP right to Barr. The former Republican congressman from Georgia is pulling just enough voters in many states to shift the balance to Obama. Whether this bloc will remain in Barr's camp on election day could determine the outcome.

It is way too early to put any faith in polls.

The only poll that matters will be taken on November 4, 2008.

It's true, absolutely, but can we stop the hand-wringing?

The headline on liberal blogs is not this, it's a poll out of Illinois that has Obama ahead by double-digits. The liberals are fretting that it's not HUGE double digits.

The circular firing squad on the Left of the Democratic Party never ceases to amaze me. Rather than celebrate that Obama is competitive in McCain's home state, we're going to fret over a double digit lead in Obama's home state. This is how we lose.

This is pathetic, McCain can not even carry his own state. I guess they are as confused by his multiple platforms as the rest of America is.

I agree with you. If your own state, which knows you best shows your loosing, thats a huge clue its over. McCain hasn't a prayer to win! Obama will become one of the best Presidents we have ever had. Mccain can't compete with inspiration!

Wow, imagine spending your whole life trying to become president of the US. And then losing in a landslide -- to a black man.

What a beautiful thing that is!!! For those of us who really care about our country, our planet, and our fellow countrymen and women.

It's only July, and Johnnieboy has managed to botch the economy message, the social security message, the health care message, the Iran message, and the Iraq message(is his policy now not to listen to the Iraqis across their politcal spectrum?) How about the Jim Webb GI bill that McCain passed? How about being the only U.S. Senator not to vote on the Medicaid Bill? How about forgetting that he didn't vote on Kyl-Liebermann, and that he voted four times since 2003 against expanded health care for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans? That he declared social security a disgrace because it collects from people during working years and pays them when they retire? DUH! Or his $5,000 tax credit for families paying $12,000 a year for health insurance? Wouldn't paying $6,000 a year with no credit be a better deal for everyone except the insurance companies? Even the war stories are wearing thin: how about those Steelers-- or was it those Packers? Just pack it in, McCain!.

How about he may have voted for "viagra" and against birth control meds!! How about he doesn't remember that either and needs to get back to the reporter before he can give an "INFORMED" answer!!?

Retire this man!!

We're thinking alike, but it was "I'll TRY to get back to you" = you're crazy if you think that I will. (I have the right to forget once again, but all YOU need to remember is that I DO qualify to be a world leader)

Don't forget his disremembering his vote against insurance coverage of birth control for women while it's ok for men to have Viagra paid for. What a shock that McE.Dysfunction would hold such a view, but , of course, he is too modest to discuss such subjects. Or to remember how he voted (even after being reminded), or was it that he couldn't remember where he put his Viagra stash. Probably both

Please don't forget that women don't deserve to be paid the same as a man to do the same job. Obviously women NEED more education and training....that was a doozy! Not to mention Roe v. Wade reversal....he's batting a Thousand!

He bragged about "not one earmark" ... some earmarks are considered legitimate constituient services ... imagine him not bringing home a damn loaf of bread, while he & Cindy live like "Tuts" ... wouldn't you be in an ultimate state of pissivity!?

Some Arizonans read something other than the MSM propaganda products.
Some believe the Real American Majority story on "McCain Most Flawed Candidate Ever" at Townhall.com to be more realistic, to match up better with the known facts than the official McCain story. I wonder why. Could it be that they have observed something ....?
But don't worry, the PNAC folks like him, consider him the perfect replacement for their current puppet; some even consider him dumber than Dubya, and equally ...honest.

Oh, I'd love to see Obama beat McCain here.

Hopefully the Arizona papers will begin to publish the court days regarding McCain's divorce and remarriage.

Thank God that the Dems aren't letting Nader fool them this time around like they did when Bush stole it. We saw what that did and I do not think we want part of that kind of foolishness again. Bad part is for the Repubs is that they are so unsatisfied with their nominee.

I moved here over 25 years ago from Brooklyn.
It was quite a shock to find out that the world wasn't Democrat, Catholic or Jewish and not union members. But, this place really grows on you.
Anyway, McCain hasn't voted for our state since April and not much before that.

Heh, I don't think McCain has voted for anything or anyone since at least that long.

When was the last time he actually voted instead of avoiding casting a ballot so he could turn around the week after a bill passes and claim he supported it and took part in its creation like he did with the GI bill.

Actually, we knew that McCain would be weak in his home state. Don't y'all remember that in the primary he barely got a majority there?

His failure to bring home the pork has garnered little support from his constituents. He should be worried.

He was right about Indiana during the Democratic primary. If Clinton didn't get the Operation Chaos voters, she would not have squeaked by as she did.

Yes, it's true that Zogby Interactive has a great deal of "internal error" in their methodology, but this is the more traditional division of Zogby reporting this. Pair this with Rasmussen showing McCain's 20 point lead in May reduced to single digits in June, and Zogby may be the first of many polls that call Arizona statistically tied when all the July public polling is done.

That ain't good news for McCain.
