I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Harry Reid has just waded into the firestorm over yesterday's claim from McCain adviser Phil Gramm that the economic downturn is "mental" and that Americans are simply "whining."

"Graham has a view of government which is that government is the enemy, not a friend," Reid said in an interview this afternoon with CongressionalVideo.com. "And, obviously from his comments, he now believes the American people are not his friend either, and he has a low view of the American people. Thinks they're a bunch of whiners."

In fact, Reid said, "every segment of our economy is in deep trouble. Deep trouble. We have the housing market, which is falling apart. We have gas prices which are astronomical, people can't even afford to drive to work in many instances."

The Senate Majority Leader saved some of his powder for his colleague from Arizona. "You tie that in with what McCain has said, that he doesn't understand the economy...and he's relying on someone who says that the economy is in good shape and the Americans are a bunch of whiners. We should all worry about the Republican nominee."

Lets see now. Fearless Majority Leader Reid has been leading the Senate Democratic stalwarts to guarantee 400,000 mortgages refinancing with 300 Billion $s, or 750K$ average per morgage. Shummer and Reid and their colleagues wanted to protect the middle class from the bad mortgage deals they struck. Give me a break, these guys are going after Phil Gramm or anyone else? We need help, where is Obama on this? How did he vote?

I'm sure reid looked very stern when he said whatever he said. I'm sure the jaw was tightly set and the the head tilted ever-so-slightly forward to convey the seriousness of his tone.

that'll teach 'em!

Reid has a low opinion of America, same as most liberals. Just read posts on huffpo to see that. Reid himself said the war in Iraq is lost. Guess our troops are just a bunch of losers according to liberal leadership.

If that made any sense you may have an idea....but remember mission accomplished some 1,900 days ago. Republicans insist on keeping troops in the meat grinder under equipped...remeber "the army that we have" from rummy....as long as it's someone else's children all is well, its not your life but it is your war.

and psst...the liberal name thing...it doesn't work anymore. There will be more liberals now that conservatives have shown the way, and "liberals" are about to outnumber and outvote these"conservatives"....in what use of the word conservative do conservatives feel describes them? anyway...they have lost their way and america has /is paying for that dearly.

It's not our troops who are the losers. They always do their job well. But we, the American People, have been big losers since our leadership have been rea losers, getting us into a war which should never have been fought in the first place. We have lost lives of our troops, billions and billions of dollars, our national pride from loss of moral identity, and much more.

No wonder we have rightly become a nation of whiners. We're also a nation of moaners, and mourners. We moan and mourn for a new morn - oh, to be reborn a new nation, conceived in liberty and so on, because we've lost it, and have been driven to moaning, mourning, and above all whiningl. Isn't it pitifully heartbreaking at what has become of our country.

I'm going to whine all the way to the voting booth in November.

No, the troops are not losers. But Bush, his fellow Repuglicans and Kool Aid drinkers like yourself who support an immoral and unnecessary war are the LOSERS. Big fat stupid losers. Thanks to people like you our country is in shambles. Thanks jerk.

Liberals have a high opinion of America and it's troops that why it's nothing less than a crime when the Administration sends our troops into harms way in order to create a legacy for W and profits with no bid contracts for corporations including oil companies in Iraq.

History will remember W as the worst, least intelligent president in these United States. Half the people were not smart enough to know he only cared about pillaging this country's treasury. Less than half because they had to take Democrats off the election rolls in order to win.

Ahhh the irony.
The Senate Majority Leader Reid who presides over one half of the congress that has a 9% approval, talking about low views.

Delicious.

Congressional approval ratings mean crap. Remember, it's a group, not an individual. Congress as a whole always has low approval ratings, but constituents usually give their own guy/gal high ratings. It's just the rest of 'em that's crooked. :)

Isn't it time we got some new leadership rather than the ineffectual and ineffective Reid and Pelosi? Is this not obvious to everyone?

You've got to cut Phil some slack. Like all Republicans, he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Don't forget Phil managed to FAIL THREE GRADES before he graduated from high school in that most difficult of academic states, Georgia.

To call Phil dumb is an insult to the dumb.

Poor Ha-rry.
Ill from too much oil and coal.
Seriously folks.
Republicans have chosen some weak Senate leaders too but this guy is really the worst of any Party.
Oh.
And just to complete the portrait ... he's a crook too.

Forget the low view of the American people, after the Democratic capitulation with the FISA bill, I have an especially low view of this particular Congress.

Senator Reid, how many times have you had a chance to distinguish yourself but failed.

We expect nothing from the GOP, but your so-called leadership has been a profound disappointment.

Truly, what about answering for the continued funding of the Iraq war? Hmmmm, might that contribute to the economic problems we are experiencing?

And, to Gramm: How friggin elitist of you! You Enron POS.

He protected your safety by making sure at all costs the FISA bill went up for vote. Isn't that good enough for you? Special thanks to Majority Whip Durbin for the terrific job he did in controlling the democrats on this hard vote. Couldn't have done it without you; many thanks.

I don't know that Harry Reid has any idea of the American people. He has not stood up for anything that we expected from the democrats. What did he do on FISA? Now he s capitulating on some of the precious lands that bush wants to descimiate for his own ego..the ANWR region and I do know that we do not all feel the same about that. But lawse Harry, pay attention to th geologists and the ones who know. And don't try to speak for me. The dems under HR and NP have failed miserably for the american people..
