Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign said Thursday that Republicans anticipate raising a combined $400 million war chest for the general election campaign against Sen. Barack Obama this fall.

Factoring in the fund-raising efforts of the presidential hopeful, the Republican National Committee and state party operations, campaign manger Rick Davis estimated that Sen. McCain will have more than enough resources to compete against Sen. Obama, who raised a staggering amount of cash -- $287 million -- during the primary season.

All you people whining about FISA need to shut the f**k up.

How utterly stupid do you have to be to open fire on your own nominee during the election cycle?!

If you actually start to seed doubt in the minds of people over this then I say f**k you, you deserve to have another Republican in office.

After all - you will be the ones to thank if Obama loses - not McCain, but all of YOU for starting the doubts to begin with. This election has landslide written all over it - until you get your hands on it - then it becomes a toss-up. For crying out loud, no wonder the republicans have been beating us for most of my life - look at the fools here in our ranks!

God Save all of you whining b****es, if you actually do get McCain. You think that a White House under the GOP would be "the same", or "hardly any different" then I say you need your eyes and/or head examined by a professional. FISA is NOT the MOST important issue out there - not by a LONG SHOT and if you want to kill the only dog in the race for your side because you don't agree with him on this one issue - then you don't deserve to have your nominee win.

You best "learn it up" and STOP FIRING AT YOUR OWN CANDIDATE, YOU STUPID TWITS, BEFORE YOU GET WHAT YOU ASK FOR!

I forgot to mention in my earlier post was that one strking virtue of the Obama campaign was its almost total absence of B.S. from the candidate, that is, until his public comments - and e-mails to his supporters - on the FISA vote came out. I have read those comments over and over - and I still cannot make any sense out of them (maybe my Ph.D. did not prepare me enough?) until I finally understood it was simply the latest issuing of the usual putrid Washingtonian B.S. And what will be looming more and more along with it is Hillary's courageous vote AGAINST the FISA bill.

Obama will still win in fall, but now it will be done in the standard American way - we will be picking once again the lesser of two evils.

I had donated to the Obama campaign four times earlier this year ... then the unbelieveable FIAS vote came along. That froze me solid in my tracks; no more donations from me to Obama until - if ever - I see a real stand of courage towards change from him. I strongly suspect millions of other Obama supporter of reacting the same way. And when widely-respected Constitutional Law Professor of George Washington University Jonathan Turley stated unequivically on Olbermann's Countdown unequivically how utterly terrible Obama's vote was, I fully realized for the first time that Obama is still nevertheless just another pandering politician, albiet a very intelligent one, who also happens to be unbeliveably gifted in public speaking and organizational management. I am no longer anticipating much change at all once Obama takes office, and little or no justice will likely be served for the countless serious Federal crimes commited by the Bush administration. My hope for the future has vaporized with his one cowardly action. "Judge not by what was said, but by what was done."

I am not thrilled by the FISA vote either but I am still going to contribute as much as possible and I am still going to do my best to ensure that Obama is the next President, Obama on his worst day is a million times better that McCain on his best. I have total faith in Obama to restore all of our constitutional freedoms when he is President. Contribute,Contribute,Contribute- the Republicans have all of that big money to buy this election but together we can compete.

I contributed during the primary as well, but because of his indefensible vote on F ISA I will no longer contribute and I won't be volunteering. I am hoping his nomination is overturned at the convention and a D emocrat is nominated.

He's being punished at the moment for FISA. It will pick up again once he gets himself back on track with what the vast majority of Americans want their country to represent.

Of course there's a drop in donations. The primary just ended and we are in a lull....... for now. Rest assured the money will flow. McCain should think of this as the lull before the storm....................

This is the result of moving to the center and his refusal to vote against FISA. We told you not to do it, Barack.

You can pretend it's only the PUMA people who are putting up a fuss. But that's just not true. Obama has a serious problem with a disillusioned base. Some of the people who were his most activist supporters during the primary are questioning what he actually stands for.

He needs to address the problem. These aren't just insignificant issues.

When Obama went BEGGING the Clinton's for their support, I lost all respect for him. And now he looks horribly, horribly, horribly weak and whimpy begging everybody to pay off her debt. It should not be his freaking concern - the financial mess she got herself into.
She is black mailing him to help her, and he looks like a total jerk in going along with it..
I WILL NEVER SEND HIM ANOTHER DAMN DIME! . . . .Hilliary has ended up winning a prize afterall, she wanted to take him down . . . and she has.

No! That really can't be your reason. I'm still trying to understand how that is a sign of weakness. Hillary, hate her or love her, is still a force to be reckoned with in the political game. Trying to get her support is really smart, even McCain is going that route. Then helping her retire her debt, I think, is just being the bigger man which is not weak in anyway. So I ask you to pls reconsider

She's part of the democratic party....I don't like Hillary, never have and she stayed in way to long and created her own debt. We aren't paying it....sher "supporters" who are doing to "write in her name NEED TO PAY HER DEBT! But Obama is doing this as a reflection of what this country should be not was it was or is now.

WIth all the bad things happening in this country, people losing their homes to foreclosure, fires, cyclones, tornadoes, flooding, stock market crash, possible draft to be reinstituted (if Mccain has his way)....Take a good look around...you will see the same BS from McCain - nothing will change, it will just get worse....Let Obama do what he has to do - agree to disagree if necessary, but don't vote for McCain to get back at Obama?

This has to be snark.

Why wouldn't he want the Clintons' support? Why wouldn't he want to help her clear her debt for the sake of party unity? It doesn't look weak -- it looks like negotiating, which is something that presidents do on occassion. Not sending him money because he recognizes the continuing importance of the Clintons in politics is the silliest reason I've heard for not supporting the guy who might improve the economy, address global warming, improve education, end the war in Iraq, make health care affordable, jump start an alternative energy policy, and actually serve the people rather than the corporations.

Maybe BO will have to take public financing after all. One way to make an honest man out of him, at least partially.

And maybe Obama should make Phil Gramm his financial advisor too, right? GOP ALWAYS has more funds at hand because the greedy need to maintain their lifestyles - but honesty has never been their strongsuit either and makes Obamas honesty issues pale in comparison. Think you're on the wrong blogsite.

I was one of those small donors, who donated every month, even if I couldn't afford it. But after 8 YEARS of absolutely no governmental accountability, I felt that Obama became a wus when it came to FISA. His statements to many of us staunch supporters, to me, was almost like he was the pied piper and we should ease on down the road, at his command.

No one is saying he could have stopped the vote, but just like he professes to have spoken truth to power on the war, I fully expected the same from him re: FISA. He missed a golden opportunity to not be a regular politician, in order to get 3 votes from the right. Other people can give what they want, that's their business. I will have to vote for him, 'cause John Insane is no option. But what ticks me off the most with all politicians is that all us little people vote them in and donate our pennies and they listen to the corporations over us time and time again.

I'm sure this is because the primary is over (don't tell PUMA or they will be mad) and also some reaction to the FISA vote and faith-based initiatives comments.

Let's hope Senator got the message.

Well, I guess you 'pubs are right - Obama should just hang it up, walk away and give it to McSame...

Get real! He came out ahead of BOTH Clintons in the primaries. Do you really think he'll turn tail and run from a doddering old man who can't remember half the things he said a week ago?

Obama has no guarantee for victory in November. He is just doing too many dumb things, and when he is asked key questions, his lack of experience and vision becomes all too clear. Long road ahead for Mr. Obama. Forget your fabricated polls, this race is much closer than you think.

If that's true, then that's sad, because Obama is running against absolutely nothing from the other side. The elderly gentlemen from Arizona has no ideas, doesn't understand economics, can't remember the players in the middle east, can't show up for important votes, etc. etc. etc. And the race is this close. No, it's not Obama's vote on FISA, it's the American people and their lack of vision, clarity of mind, and intelligence. If the republicans keep winning the white house, this country will not be worth anything in a few short years. Wanting to loot the country, or refusing to leave Iraq because we haven't won a major war since WWII, and we have to "leave with honor" are not can be called positive visions for the country.

Well, the new Newsweek poll is out and Obama's lead has shrunk from 15 points (which was probably overstated) to 3, based on recent perception that he has flip-flopped on some key issues.

So, when will the Obama campaign learn. Gi
