I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Sanford

The most painful clip from the Sunday morning shows: top McCain VP prospect Mark Sanford "drawing a blank" (in his own words) on live TV when asked to name a major economic policy that President Bush and John McCain disagree on.

The transcript:

BLITZER: Are there any significant economic differences between what the Bush administration has put forward over these many years as opposed to now what John McCain supports?

SANFORD: Um, yeah. For instance, take, you know, take, for instance, the issue of -- I'm drawing a blank, and I hate it when I do that, particularly on television. Take, for instance the contrast on NAFTA. I mean, I think that the bigger issue is credibility in where one is coming from, are they consistent where they come from.

Sanford finally came up with an answer -- McCain has opposed earmarks while President Bush hasn't -- but Blitzer twisted the knife a bit further, following up on Sanford's initial mention of NAFTA. "He's a huge supporter of free trade, John McCain, the Bush administration supports free trade. I don't see a big difference."

Sanford said he was going to make a separate point about consistency.

Here's the vid:

The Republicans are NOT going to have a moment of clarity. They will NOT realize that they are in over their heads.
The ball should be taken from them and they should be escorted off the premises.
That's our job and our charge.

your partisanship is the major contributing factor to the demise of our responsibility of We The People.

I do not condone any of the Neocons' actions (do not read, Conservative). That said, I do not condone any of the equally complicit Congressional actions (read Statists). They are both crooked corporatists.

I long for the day of Conservative vs. Liberal. Mix it up a bit and add a good third party - if they dare to let them into the process.

You don't condone the neocons?

Were you among the 20-25% who opposed this war in Iraq from the beginning, or have you found moral clarity since October 2002?

If so, please try to support a permanent military presence in Iraq, or anywhere else Osama bin Laden has mentioned as a holy land.

Then, jump into a pre-9/11 moral mindframe and ask yourself JUST EXACTLY what it was that made us "deserve" 9/11.

Because if you don't condone it, you're at least morally complicit.

That's not partisanship. That's walking a mile in someone else's shoes or honestly listening to their argument.

Wolf Blitzer should have then asked Mark Sanford to spell "potato" in another "à la Dan Quayle moment."..

So, how do Bush and McCain differ? - they both disagree with Obama.

Yeah, I didn't think that made sense either...

Bush has always spoken out about earmarks and has vetoed a few bills over the past two years because of earmarks. However, Bush didn't veto any Republican bills that included egregious earmarks - bills that McCain happily voted for as well. So how do McCain and Bush differ? Beats me...

And, in a nutshell it also brings some clarity to those who once supported Hillary Clinton and claim they won't vote for Obama. This really shows that some of Hillary's base was not supporting the Democratic platform as much as they simply wanted a 'female' in the Whitehouse. For them to enable a third Bush term by declaring they won't support Obama rather clearly illustrates that they are voting not along policy, but on skin color and personality.

Obama won't get these folks--ever, and he shouldn't waste his time trying.

Hey your kids have brains, where Bush and McCain just have dreams of following the yellow brick road, where they hope to get a brain. They dont want a heart, that would mean they would actually have to start caring about others. They did get some courage on their last trip, but Cheney took it away.

Shades of Dan Quayle!!!!!! Where does the Republican Party dredge up such empty-headed, screwy zealots who think you fight wars with huge tax cuts, deregulate vital agencies which guard our financial and physical nfrastructures, privatize military organizations (like Blackwater) and social security, let huge no-bid contracts to the Dept of Defense, ignore vast corruption among defense contractors, downplay the urgency of global warming, and brand every effort to assist the less fortunate as socialism? Looking at preference polls, I fear that the so-called "low-information voter" is about to give us another 4-8 years of bad government.

Oh, man -- do not go there! Brilliance and foolishness are not geographically dictated, dude. Case in point - O'Reilly, Coulter and Hannity all grew up within a couple of miles of one another in the NYC area.
