Obama: Multiple Visits To Iraq By McCain Don't Equal Perspective

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., argued in San Diego today that just because Sen. John McCain has made multiple visits to Iraq, that does not mean that he has the correct perspective on the region.

"John McCain has been in Congress 25 years, no doubt about that. If this is a longevity measure, then John McCain wins," Obama said to reporters. "I'll recall the visit he made last year in which he was surrounded by helicopters and SWAT teams and came back and reported how safe everything was in Baghdad. You know, I don't think that that was indicative of what was actually happening on the ground at that time."

Obama is heading to Iraq later this month for what will be only his second visit to the country -- compared to McCain's eight trips.

The Fact that McCain came back from Iraq touting how SAFE it was to just walk around and relax shows his "Perspective" I worth less than nothing. McCain is more flawed than a $1.99 3 carat diamond.

All those visits to Iraq and McCain still has it wrong. We should be at war, and winning the war, with the people that attacked USA on 9/11. That would be al Qaeda from AFGHANISTAN.

McCain is so wrong when he says, "the central war on terror is in Iraq." Mr. McCain, oh oblivous one, the "central war on terror" is in AFGHANISTAN!

My dad would have asked, "Does the man have 25 years of experience, or does he have one year of experience 25 times?" I think the question is a valid comment on McCain's obvious cluelessness in nearly every facet of a President's duty. If it were possible, I'd think he might be a worse president than Bush himself.

" 'Before we went into Iraq, I knew the difference between Shia and Sunni. Before we went into Iraq, I said that this is going to be an extraordinarily costly endeavor,' Obama said. 'Before we went into Iraq, I said that we would be bogged down, that it would cost us billions of dollars and thousands of lives and that it would fan anti-American sentiment and that it would distract us from the war against Afghanistan.' "
This is the real money quote from the article.

That's exactly right. You can do something for years, but you still may not be good at it. You have to have judgement, integrity, honor, willing to listen, diplomacy, and work with people. Which of those characteristsics does John McCain have, honor!

I remember 1 of McCain's Iraq visits & still laugh at the absurdity of it.

He was out in the "street" in Bagdad, wearing a bullet proof vest, with an estimated 100 US ground troops & air support for protection. This was at the start of the surge & he was proudly telling the interviewer how well the surge was working & how much safer the area was.

What a funny guy..

Sounds like he's creating a fairy tale, not just telling one.

Good judgement is the key. McCain is not an expert and he doesn't have the judgement. He doesn't know what the 'majority' of this country wants, and how to get it and let them know he is with them.

Obama, come on tell it like it is. McBush was having the reverse experience Hillary had in Tulsa.
