Golf

George W. Bush famously claimed to have given up golf out of respect for soldiers in Iraq:

"I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf," he said. "I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."

But this great sacrifice has taken the backseat to a more urgent concern -- raising money for John McCain:

If you're a high-flying Republican, and you can afford to take next Monday off to fly to Maine, have we got a treat for you.

On that day, former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush are hosting a high-dollar fundraiser for John McCain near their home in Kennebunkport.

According to a solicitation sent by the McCain camp, for the low, low price of $5,000, you can play a round of golf at Cape Arundel Golf Course, Bush's home course.

"Both President Bush and Governor Jeb Bush will be stopping by to greet the foursomes," the missive promises. "The course is reserved for this private group, and VIPs will be visiting during your round of golf. This event is a great way to end a weekend getaway, and we would be honored if you can attend."

What an idiot. His giving up golf to show solidarity for the troops was not only a lie, evidently, but was absolutely moronic. This man has no intellectual prowess, can't speak worth a tinker's damn, and has utter disregard for any viewpoint other than his own. I felt this way when he was running for President in 2000. I felt at the time that these particular set of characterists made Bush a dangerous and reckless man. Man, sometimes it sucks to be right.

It makes sense... John McCain hero Navy pilot has been one of the least supportive GOP Senator's of our brave Women and Men serving our Country (except for lip service) and Bush has been our Servive members worst Commander ever.

So much for W(orst)'s attention span. Maybe a good game of golf will put him to sleep, so he won't make any military or economic or environmental decisions for a while. Look, folks, this guy has nothing to lose at this point, and he's dangerous. Please, George, by now you know you're no Abe Lincoln, so try being Ike for a while. We used to like Ike. He played a lot of golf--you know, he made war on that little white ball with a steel club. And we liked him, sort of.

It's not Bush my friends, but the Republicans who are in charge. It's the Republicans who are destroying our economy.

If the Prez is planning to earn big bucks for McCain by playing golf with Fat Cats as a fund raise, then that means either the Prez "forgot" his pledge a while back, lame though it was, to demonstrate alleged "support" of our troops in Iraq by giving up golf or, and far more likely, he has proved once again campaign contributors mean far more to him than the mere troops under his command.

So much for his eternal bumper sticker-style piety. Why does anyone still believe anything that comes out of his mouth?

Obviously he didn't truly mean it. Well, what we can say about this president. He is totally toxic and without respect for the people that he is suppose to support with this sacrifice, that never took place.
He is mocking not intentionally, but never the less, he is mocking the people who did sacrifice so much for their country as for an unjustified president's war.
This is our president, the worst of them all. This is our burden, the must toxic of them all.
