Golf

George W. Bush famously claimed to have given up golf out of respect for soldiers in Iraq:

"I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf," he said. "I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."

But this great sacrifice has taken the backseat to a more urgent concern -- raising money for John McCain:

If you're a high-flying Republican, and you can afford to take next Monday off to fly to Maine, have we got a treat for you.

On that day, former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush are hosting a high-dollar fundraiser for John McCain near their home in Kennebunkport.

According to a solicitation sent by the McCain camp, for the low, low price of $5,000, you can play a round of golf at Cape Arundel Golf Course, Bush's home course.

"Both President Bush and Governor Jeb Bush will be stopping by to greet the foursomes," the missive promises. "The course is reserved for this private group, and VIPs will be visiting during your round of golf. This event is a great way to end a weekend getaway, and we would be honored if you can attend."

First, he declares that he will show respect for our troops by forgoing golf. Then he compounds the lunacy as her apparently decided raising money for McCain is more important that showing respect for the troops. Sometimes, it seems like January, 2009 just cannot come soon enough.

What bush says had never had any meaning beyond the words. And mostly he reads someone else's words. And I wouldn't golf with him if they had if for free. I wonder if Poppy is ashamed yet.

So what hasn't he lied about? Respect for our soldiers, that's a good one especially after vetoing or threatening to veto any benifit package that comes his way. Support the troops;only as props for his sissy frat-boy photo-opts. We've never had such a chickenshit commander in cheif.

W's grandpa collaborated with the Nazis before and during WWII. Google Operation Paperclip.

He doesn't care about what he said, similar to any statements he makes
when convenient....they are all called lies.

Come on. It doesn't say he's actually going to play golf, just greet the money boys at the golf course. Oh, and watch out for that cool Obama guy hanging around the club house.

Well, let's put it this way. Do you believe him when he said he'd give up golf?

Think carefully before answering.

I was watching a special about some town close to Crawford Tx, and all the UFO'S that were seen there by many people, they say headed toward Crawford, too bad idiot boy and his cohorts weren't there to be beamed up, God, if I knew an Alien, I'd pay them to take these people to their planet and do whatever they like to them, meanwhile, we might be able to save our Country, at this point it's most unlikely.

After the game, he'll give up his promise not to drink anymore. That will be an improvement.

One day in 2009 or 2010 there will be a televised trial of Cheney for Plame and Bush for War Crimes. It's just a matter of time....

Hmm. It said president Bush, not President W. I am pretty sure they meant the Bush 41 plutocrat, not his ne'er do well son.

At this point we have no one to thank, for keeping this idiot in office, except Congress.

Thanks, Nancy. Thanks, Harry. You've both done a heckuva job!

Signed
America

And if we do our jobs properly, Nancy and Harry will be out of jobs along with the others in Congress who do not vote the right way.

If Bush was going to give up something to show his support of the troops, why couldn't it have been the Presidency?
