Chris Matthews Confuses Barack Obama And Osama Bin Laden Once Again

Talking about the flap over The New Yorker's controversial cover featuring Barack and Michelle Obama, Chris Matthews slipped up -- once again -- and said "Osama Bin Laden" when he meant to say "Barack Obama." Matthews quickly caught and corrected himself.

I think it was an innocent verbal faux pas. Mr. Matthews' mouth often runs faster than his brain can handle. Just like ALL of us at one point or the other.

I've noticed that lately he refers to Obama as "Barack" all the time. I thought this was oddly familiar of him, and innapproprite, since he doesn't call McCain "John" and "Hillary" is no longer relevant in the general election sense.
Now I'm guessing he has to train himself to think BARACK BARACK BARACK when he means Obama so he does not continually say OSAMA by mistake.

I do believe it is a mistake, but he is so mentally, emotionally and verbally undisciplined that he simply can not correct it so has found the Barack workaround. Clearly, it is not 100% effective.

I dont hear them ever mistaken McCain for McBush despite the fact that many articles out there seem to use McBush in place of McCain.

I really don't think the guy had any negative intentions. If it was someone on FOX I wouldn't be so inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. Although it's not like conservatives don't own all the networks anyway so who knows. The guy just talks so fast, so loud, and never seems to really have a specific point I'm a bit surprised he doesn't do things like that more often.

Chris Matthews's sloppiness and goofiness is incredibly irritating. I don't see any of them as a reliable source of information. Still like Keith Olbermann however.

Commentators could reduce the prpspects of slip up, by routinely using the shorthand of last names.

Why does Matthews use Osama bin Laden's first name and Barrak Obama's last name. Why not just routinely refer to Osama bin Laden as "bin Laden."?
