Cindy McCain recently gave a rare private interview to CNN in which she disclosed her opinions on transportation in Arizona, her home state. The McCains have tried to distance themselves from elitism, but apparently Mrs. McCain believes that the only way to get around is by "small private plane."

I guess Cindy hasn't looked out the window of her plane and noticed all the regular folks driving to work in these things called automobiles. Does John know how to drive yet? Or is he working on that?

Um, didn't you know that as a general rule the older one gets the more likely they are to go through regression especially one who suffers from PTSD. Apparently Mc"Needs A"Cain is doing just that.

I was born and raised in Tucson and we all had a small private plane. If it was just a short trip we would take the Sandcar like the one that Luke drove in Star Wars. We had lots of fancy modes of transportation, not like ordinary people that have real lives in real places. Arizona is just too big to be a normal place. If we give John and Cindy McBush a chance they can bring us all the good life.

McSames, you are so connected to the common people!

Flying and owning a plane is just like driving and owning a car. Those of us who are afraid to fly get OUR pilot's license and fly around in our private planes to get around town!

Well, if your husband had crashed 3 planes already, wouldn't YOU want to be in the driver's seat on the next family outing?

Besides, what Cindy M DIDN't say (too embarassing) is that she was tired of missing Sunday barbeques when Mr. McMap was driving the plane. It get's really old (pardon the pun!) missing all the fun because of mischarted detours to Czechoslovakia.

Excellent insight re: John McCain's crashed planes. I wonder if he ever considers reimbursing the US Treasury for the cost of replacing them, now that he is wealthy.

The other benefit of flying over driving is that state troopers cannot pull you over and see all the open beer cans in the plane.

If she wants my respect, she'll do like Barbara Ehrenreich did in Nickel and Dimed. For many months.

And the only way not to burn your feet on the hot desert sand is to step on the necks of the little people who don't count like we do.

not true- the other way to not burn your feet is to wear Flip Flops, like her husband...

Man! Those Air Traffic Controllers must be busy as HELL in AZ! The turnover must be something like 75% a week! I must have been looking at flying cars when I was there - only their wings weren't extended and they were rolling around on the ground.
She must have meant it like the feeling you get when you're looking good, you're feeling good, you're smelling good, you're freshly scrubbed, you've a fresh haircut, your clothes are brand new and tailored for you, you have no financial worries, and the plane is yours...then you order a cool drink, put your feet up,and sigh, "Ahhhh,,,this is the OWWWN-LY way to travel...!"

As an Arizonan I have two thoughts on this subject...

1) most all us manage to get around just fine w/o owning a plane. Yes, it's a long way between cities, but most of us "whiners" have been able to adapt

2) I am eternally thankful that, given his track record, someone besides John taught her to fly. I really don't have the money to pull a Beechcraft out of my roof...

She's right. I work at Spacely Space Sprockets (my boss is a real jerk, I'll probably apply at Cogswell Cogs soon). The only way I can get to and from my job is in my aero-copter. It makes things so much easier for my entire family; Jane, Judy and Elroy. I've even purchased one for our maid Rosie, enabling her to take Astro to his weekly grooming appointment.

Why dahling, I know exactly what you mean! I wouldn't dream of driving 50 miles when I could fly! I mean, all the Little People look soo much smaller from a private plane . . .

This is what life is like in your hometown when the only time you shop is when you're sightseeing. Cindy has a butcher, a baker, a candlestick maker, a maid, a pilot, and she probably even has her own beauty shop on their estate.

Gee, I wonder how all those people in Arizona feel when they're stuck in traffic and can't just hop on a plane and fly all over Arizona.
