Jesse Ventura Tells Larry King That He Is Not Running For Senate In Minnesota (VIDEO)

Jesse Ventura announced on Larry King Live Monday that he would not be running for Senate from Minnesota (although he reserved the right to change his mind if God came and told him to run between Monday and the filing deadline Tuesday at 5pm).

Why would the New Yorker bother to do covers when irony abounds around every corner. Let's see it is a matter of public import that Jesse Ventura (what kind of un American name is that anyway--Ventura? and his first name--wasn't that the same first name as the most infamous outlaw of the old west?) isn't going to run for the Senate ...unless Allah wills it? I live in MN and I can say that Jesse made it clear in the past that he is an athiest so this "if God tells me to run" is Jesse making a joke of this whole politica race. Living in MN I don't find this senate race a joke at all. We need Coleman G O N E! He has been a Bush a$$ kisser and he would never have won if Wellstone hadn't tragically died just weeks before the election. Jesse may have some good points and ideas but when you really look at this interview? He is selling a book.

I was a supervisor at an opinion research shop that did weekly tracking of the Minnesota Governor's race of '98. Ventura simply convinced Minnesotans that he was DIFFERENT than Norm Coleman and Skip Humphrey (who had been running a particularly bitter two-person race prior to Ventura's emergence) . He went from high teens to low 40s with regard to his % in that poll in a matter of 6 weeks -- I've never seen that kind of movement before or since.
