"Mamma Mia" The Queen Of Foreign Box Office

Universal's "Mamma Mia!" came out singing overseas ahead of its domestic launch, dominating in English-speaking markets with $24 million on just 1,368 screens in a dozen territories for a stunning $17,536 per-location average.

The tuner, along with Sony's "Hancock," "Kung Fu Panda" and the Asian-territories debut of John Woo's "Red Cliff," set a torrid pace for a sizzling international box office frame. The four films combined for nearly $160 million, underscoring the resurgence of offshore biz after the Euro Cup soccer tourney held down moviegoing in June.

I don't think i could sit through this even if someone paid me. Sorry, but it might be one thing to see it on Broadway as a musical, but watching Meryl Streep jumping around the movie screen belting out old Abba tunes just turns me off. The commercials I've seen just look utterly ridiculous.

I watched this on-line today. It was really bad. I had to fast forward through the singing, it's the actors voices and that is not a good thing. Seriously, don't waste your money. Can't figure out why Streep would do this. She can sing too, just not in this movie. I remember her in Silkwood and she was good.

This film is going to tank so bad after it's first week. All the hyping by the studio and HuffPo won't save this turkey.

As much as I like Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan, I don't want to see either of them sing or dance.

This is just studio press releases trying to create a buzz that isn't there...
