WSJ:

Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, is set to get a huge payout from the sale of Anheuser-Busch Cos., brewer of Budweiser and hundreds of other brands, to Belgian beverage giant InBev NV.

McCain, the heiress to the third-largest Anheuser distributor, owns at a minimum $1 million in the American company, according to John McCain's Senate financial disclosure forms, which don't offer any more information for large assets held by his spouse. Under the deal, she and other stockholders will get a cash payout for the stock, which is owned through her company, Hensley and Co.

Anheuser's stock price opened at $67.55 today, almost a 50% gain over the near $47 price in February when the possibility of a deal was made public. Cashing out could leave the McCains with hefty capital gains, which would be taxed at a rate of 15% under the Bush tax cuts that John McCain opposed and now supports. (Barack Obama has proposed raising the capital gains tax.)

for those of you people who are ranting on against AB's sale.

How about you do your part? Why the hell didnt you guys buy AB's stock in the past 5 years. The stockholders of the company would decide if they want to vote for the deal or not.

who the hell are you ? and more importantly, why the hell do you think your opinion matters to whether AB is sold or not (assuming you dont own stock in AB)

Because I'm an American and I'm troubled when an American icon like Anheiser Busch is sold to a foreign company. You might as well sell the Chrysler Building to the Arabs - oh wait......

The only good thing about this sale is that maybe Bud will start making palatable beer.

Americans would be interested to hear that John McCain is profiting off the sale of Anheuser-Busch to Europeans.

Maybe he can sell the Statue of Liberty to the China for some campaign money too...

There is a direct correlation between shopping and depression; she has more toys and gadgets than 1 person would ever need, yet she continues to purchase more stuff that helps give her the sense she is vital and important. One feels as though one is watching a very troubled woman out searching for relevant things to make her feel good. As Betty Ford and a few of the Kennedy klan showed, just having money and spending it lavishly doesn't mean its not covering up some real deep emotional wounds.

Spending so much money in a time when so many Americans are hurting, would seem to be a really big deal, however the corporate media doesn't seem to nitpick the behavior of the McCains in the same tone and tenor they seem to be looking to confirm that there is some evil lurking in the shadows of the Obamas. Cindy McCain falls into the long line of ice princesses who stands behind her man looking proud, while having to pretend that the entire world is O.K., thus she shops and shops.

Only time will tell how well she has dealt with the drug issue, which seemingly has been whisked away.
