Sarah Silverman And Jimmy Kimmel Break Up

NEW YORK — Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman have broken up, their publicists said Monday. "Jimmy and Sarah have no further comment," Kimmel's spokesman Lewis Kay told The Associated Press, confirming the split that was first reported on Vanity Fair magazine's Web site.

Silverman's publicist, Amy Zvi, confirmed the breakup in an e-mail message to the AP. Zvi didn't immediately respond when asked for further details.

The pair dated for five years, and were one of Hollywood's funniest _ and seemingly solid _ couples.

Earlier this year, they took the Internet by storm with a mega-popular video duel. Silverman debuted a clip of her and Matt Damon singing about their fake love affair on Kimmel's ABC late-night show "Jimmy Kimmel Live," and Kimmel later responded with a star-studded video declaring a romance with Damon's best friend, Ben Affleck.

Silverman, 37, has made frequent appearances on the 39-year-old Kimmel's talk show. The comedian has starred in a feature-film length version of her one-woman show, "Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic," and fronted her own Comedy Central series, "The Sarah Silverman Program."

I love Sarah but comparing her to Lenny Bruce is ridiculous. Kind of like comparing Jesse Jackson to Martin Luther King. Lenny Bruce was a ground breaking artist who was willing to risk going to jail to make people laugh and think. Sarah is very funny, some times.

Wow I read the comments and I found out a lot of OTHER people think Sarah Silverman is not funny. I thought it was just me. I have no idea why they gave her a show, even the promo's were awful. Jimmey Kimmel never made me laugh. Why do these people have TV shows, are you telling me this is the best talent on the planet?

Honestly, I think they must have great agents because their careers are great while being crap comedians. I can't wait for them to start hiring talented people again to write, and perform comedy. The past 10 years of comedy have been pretty awful. Silverman will definitly be the poster child for ultra vulgar humor role models like "Andrew Dice Clay".Perh­aps they can go write the sequal to "Superbad" a movie so vulgar i could not even finish it. It was an arrogant form of non humorous vulgarity. It made me feel sick, just nasty with nothing funny about it.

she is so particular in her brand of comedy that she has a small audience; there are as many that don't enjoy her as do enjoy her; this isn't the case with comedians such as Chris Rock or Seinfeld or Richard Pryor...sh­e comes across as trying too hard, really making too much of an effort at being avant garde or "raw" or something.­...yawn

It's possible that they "get" the jokes and just don't think they're funny.

I understand all of her jokes; I see where and how she is trying to get the laugh, but the humor is elementary. She's like a Jewish, female, Carlos Mencia except Carlos has made me laugh twice.

Just because you don't like her form of humor doesn't mean that people that do are bigots.

I'm black and gay (2 strikes in this country) and I happen to love Sarah. I understand her sense of humor and also understand that everyone isn't going to get it (or even like it) but I wouldn't go around saying that everyone that doesn't is intellectually inferior or try to pigeon hole them into some other sterotype.

I really liked Silverman on the Monk series. She is a fantastic comedy actress. But I find her schtick to be vulgar and unfunny. I love Jimmy.
