Toronto Blue Jays Fans Taunt A-Rod With Madonna Photos (PHOTOS)

A group of Toronto Blue Jays fans came up with a novel way of trying to get to Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez: holding up photos of Madonna. Rodriguez's wife recently filed for divorce from the ball player, and the third baseman has been linked to the pop icon.

I'm no fan of A-rod, but this little incident strikes me as rather bush. Behind the safety of the wall and in view of all the cameras, they can act brave all they want. Wonder if they'd hold those pictures up if they met him on the street.

It is the fan's duty to try and break the concentration of a visiting star any (legal) way possible. It's what a true rabid fan does. A loud heckle is of course the most used method (eg; DARRRRRRRYYYYYYYL) but a picture, or better yet a mask with Madonna's grill in body proportion size, is even better. Especially when the despised foe actually notices you dong it.

The pressure he's feeling now is nothing compared to what he will be feeling through his march at Bond's (*) home run record. Or his public divorce proceedings. I predict a quick settlement.

The thing I find most interesting is the varying levels of fear displayed by the fans in the next to last photo. The closer the fan is to A-Rod, the more paralyzed with fear he seems. As you scan right, fear decreases until it's replaced by a semi-relaxed smile.

Working from left to right:

The guy in the red and blue stripes--looks askance at A-rod, as if hoping not to be noticed. The guy in the orange hat--tight-lipped smirk and nervous eyes
Next two guys, slightly more relaxed.
Last guy, smiling openly.

The dudes were all punks. Once A-rod expressed his displeasure and turned toward the on-deck circle, their "bravery" magically increased. They knew there was nothing he would do to them at that point.
