Hillary Asks To Keep Donor Money For 2012

The Observer:

Hillary Clinton's campaign is sending out letters to donors asking permission to roll a $2,300 contribution to Clinton's 2008 general election coffers to her 2012 senate election fund instead of offering a refund.

The letter, read to me by one recipient, includes a photocopy of a handwritten note from Clinton that says, "Dear friend, your commitment has meant so much to me over the course of my presidential campaign. You were there for me when I needed you the most and I'll never forget it. I hope you'll help me continue to fight for the issues and causes we believe in by filling out the enclosed form in support of Friends of Hillary."

The form says, "I hereby verify that my 2008 general election contribution may be designated to the 2012 Senate election. I designate the entire amount to the 2012 primary election. However if I have already contributed to the 2012 primary, I designate any amount in excess of $2,300 to the 2012 general election."

I think it's interesting that there's all this hooplah for Obama to settle her $23 million debt from the primary campaign, yet she's telling her supporters to donate money that could settle her current debt instead to her 2012 "Senate" campaign fund. This is the most transparent 2012 prez campaign tactic if there ever was one!!

I agree murphysgirl. She had three choices for this money. Give it back to the donors, ask the donors to have it reassigned to her senate reelection fund, OR reassign it to Obama's campaign.

Reassigning to Obama's campaign IS the drill. Obama asks his donors to pay Clintons debt, and Clinton asks her donors have their money given to Obama's campaign.
That's how they grease the wheels in politics.

Her fellow senators, and all politicians know this. She is making her intentions clear. If something happens between now and Nov. she's ready, if not 2012 is another run at the presidency for her.

She will lose all respect in the senate, and the DNC, by asking to keep the money .

The Clintons can't help but be their own worst enemy.

Clinton should not expect another dime from the Obama camp after this either. Obama supporters will go crazy over this one. They are already upset at the thought of paying off Mark Penns 4 million dollar a month salary.

I've always wondered how much Bill and Chelsea's salaries were. Anybody out there know?

She's not asking them to donate any money for 2012. They have donated for the 2008 general election campaign, money she cannot use to pay off her debt. So she's asking for their okay to use it in 2012.
