Rep. Dennis Kucinich continued his seemingly quixotic crusade to impeach President Bush last week. But with Speaker Pelosi suggesting the House Judiciary Committee may hear his argument, Kucinich might get his day very soon. The American News Project has a new video explaining Kucinich's ongoing fight:

What in the freaking Hell does it take to make this Congress act on behalf of the American people? Dennis Kucinich is the one Congressman in whom I have faith to act on behalf of the American people; he seems to be the only one who cares that the Rule of Law be followed.

It has been proven that George Bush intentionally lied to deceive the UN, Congress and the American people to wage a war on Iraq which he had planned long before the 9/11 attacks. If this is not an impeachable offense, I don't know what it.

Wherever our founding fathers are now, they are crying at what a mess Bush and this Congress have made of this country. Our only hope is that at the end of his term (depending on how much more damage the bastard does by then), rather than throngs of people to see him off we will see federal marshalls handcuff him and take him away by virtue of a warrant for first degree murder of over 4,000 American soldiers.

I can't begin to tell you how much I loathe this Congress for constantly cowtowing to Bush. How can we expect the rest of the world to respect us when we the American people find so little to respect ourselves? Congress should hang its head in shame, but Kucinich, Wexler and those who are battling to have impeachment proceedings begin may hold their heads high.

Our Founding Fathers don't cry ....they led us where others of their time didn't.

Kucinich deserves to be re-elected into office until he dies if he so chooses.

If the Democratic Party had any sense, he'd be their presidential nominee.

This is a pipe dream.

It is not a question of the merits of an impeachment case (clearly you could take your pick from the numerous valid charges out there). Right now, with months left in his term, is only a question of the practicality. Many people (myself included) who absolutely despise Bush 9and wish he would have been impeached a long time ago), don't favor wasting time or squandering the political momentum the dems need to clean house in November on a foot-stomping exercise that will turn Bush into some sort of martyr.

You can have impeachment hearings (that go nowhere fast) or you can throw out the repubs next election. You cannot have both.

Well, then, my bet is on impeachment hearings. Democrats in Congress have not been known lately for doing anything smart.

There is a reason to pursue impeachment - without it, many of the changes that this administration has made will now legally take precedent. Presidents to come will have executive powers like none before.
I don't think that, sadly, anything will come of this. How can we say that there is justice in this country?

Why can't you have both? Your argument seems lacking. I see nothing that demonstrates impeachment would hurt Obama. Part of the problem with this administration is that not enough people fully recognize the criminality of it. Impeachment would totally expose the crimes, thus aiding the cause of rectifying the situation.

"You can have impeachment hearings (that go nowhere fast) or you can throw out the repubs next election. You cannot have both."

I like this choice better: You Democrats can impeach him, or, you can stand beside him as accomplices to war crimes.

VERY GOOD!
Did you read Glenn Greenwald's column in Salong today (or maybe yesterday) about The reason some were so eager to cave on FIsA?
Seems Steney, Pelosi, Harmon and one other -the name escapes me at the moment are protecting themselves.
A very worthwhile read and analysis.
Definitely check it out.
Greenwald is one of the best.

Also go to Emptywheel (at firedoglake) for some very intelligent analysis, live blogging and conversation on all of the bu$hco crimes and hearings etc.
WONDERFUL.
Though not being an attorny I'm sometimes lost, I can still pick up plenty to get what is happening.

That George Bush pretended that the rules didn't apply to him, time after time, was an action borne of arrogance and disrespect. He has now set a precedent, a prototype for others who will succeed him. What he has done needs to be declared unconstitutional, thus illegal.

It's our Constitutional duty to impeach this President and those members of the administration who colluded with him to violate our Civil Rights and to invade and occupy Irag on the strength of falsified information

If Obama wants to salvage any of his progressive veneer, he needs to come out in full support of this.

I will not support any candidate who does not call for impeachment, and I know i'm not the only one.

A true statesman and patriot. Thank you Congressman Kucinich, you will go down in history as the last best hope for this country unless Congress heeds your call.

we should have been smart and voted for this guy! He meant real CHANGE! But the MSM dictated
who will we have to choose from and the people made a big deal over the UFO Story, though 50%
of the US Population believe in UFOs.

Besides, in his reply, the MSM cut him off before he had finished his sentence, "... Yes, as in _UN_IDENTIFIED._" and it's VERY clear he was saying that he Did Not claim he saw an alien craft or aliens, but simply something not yet identified.

The MSM's use of selective editing in this case proves their power; it should be ended. IF we had a competitive marketplace of ideas - a working media - someone of some market significance would have called them on it, provided the whole quote, and made the media's propaganda plain... Daylight being, of course, the best disinfectant.

I'll second that. Wouldn't it be nice if at the Democratic Convention Dennis' name was put up for nomination and was successful in getting it? I like Joe Biden as well as Chris Dodd and Russ Feingold . Senator Feingold is needed right where he is for now.

"I'd vote for 0bama if he picks DK for VP."

I would too.

But it will never happen. Kucinich has principles and believes in the rule of law. He even believes in Constitutional principles.

A different running mate will be chosen.

Hagel has better potential. He has had good exposure in the MSM. He has also earned his position as a Republican and has supported Bush on virtually every issue. The exception is when he offers an occasional, and ineffective, criticism of the Iraq occupation.

Hagel also has great stage presence. He could even compete with that other actor that we had.

We need Kucinich in the house to be the eyes and ears (the bigger the better) of the American people. Even if he doesn't succeed in removing these criminals from the white house their crimes will be on the record for posterity.

Like Feingold.

Send DK some money for his reelection campaign. I heard he is having a real challenge in his home state.
We need to keep him in.
Even 5 bucks is something.

DK was my 1st pick for POTUS. This ticket (BO/DK) makes me moist, but I fear it would read as waaay too left for the core Dems.
