Greg Osberg, Newsweek's president and worldwide publisher, is leaving the Washington Post Company, FOLIO: has learned.

Osberg told FOLIO: Tuesday that he plans to stay on at Newsweek until early fall. No successor has been named, though Jon Meacham, the magazine's editor, would figure to be a prime candidate.

A Washington Post Company spokesperson said the decision would be made by Newsweek. A spokesperson for Newsweek did not immediately return a request seeking comment.

Newsweek is going down and you gotta love it, when you take a hard turn left or right you are going to lose credibility and half your audience.

What will Olbergoof do for guests now?

Maybe they need EVEN MORE OBAMA COVERS AND PUFF PIECES and slanted polls showing him with 15 point leads...since they only do that in 1 out of 4 issues now, if they upped it to 3 out of 4 their sales would skyrocket!

I really can see that this is a very good thing after the hirings of some people who are not worthy of the newsprint they write being published. Also it might be time to look at why the magazine like many others have turned more towards ads and less toward news we should be reading. The owners and the GOP should not be allowed to make the mag in their own images either.
