FWIW, a number of commenters below have confused "satire" with "ridicule."

Agreed. This isn't really satire, it's more lampoon than anything else.

Something most people don't understand is that satire isn't necessarily "funny". The best satire, in the classical sense, isn't really funny at all. Take Swift's "A Modest Proposal", for example.

This is ridicule and lampoon - which is funny - but not really satire.

Nevertheless, it has funny moments and Jib Jab's production values are top-notch.

I did LOL at Hillary beaning Bill with the frying pan (again) and Obama skipping through the fairy-tale forest, but W and McCain deserve far harsher treatment than they received here.

Hilarious!!!
Love it, and the perfect song to choose as well.
Any politics junkie who doesn't enjoy this is so wayyyy lacking in a sense of humor.

They all got it good.
I think McCain might have gotten the worst.
Just love it.

Even though I think Obama is only a bit better then McCain, I'm sick of these Simpson-esk "Citizen Kang" parodies, that have no editorial position and imply that it doesn't really matter which candidate you vote for. Making poor choices in the last, say 5 presidential elections, is a big part of what got us into this mess in the first place. We all need to be vetting candidates and paying more attention to elections on all levels of government. Not pretending we are the victims of elections and that there is nothing we can do about it.

As if we're not sold a bill of goods every election cycle. GET REAL! It seems that YOU are the true victim in all of this. Pretending that "vetting" will weed out the baddies in favor the good guys who promise cotton candy clouds, roads paved in gold and unicorns for everyone. It's just a job for these people. Just another way for them to provide for their families. It's not some "higher calling" which beckons prophets and devil's advocates. Get over it. We've been sold down the river for a LONG time. Not just the past 5 presidential cycles. Try going back to the early 20th century.

Jib Jab is only occassionaly funny. Sure, the production values are great but here's the Jib Jab philosophy: we're equal opportunity offenders, they're all equally bad, see...we can market and appeal (and get broader airplay/money/ self congartulations from the MSM) because we make sure everyone gets equal parts lampooning.
Sorry, it all reekes of the vanilla comediec meanderings of the unfunny Capital Steps or God forbid, Mark Russell.
Is this carpolla (albeit nice visually) to be a quardrenial part of our politics? Apparantly so.
Hey Jib, Jib this up your Jab.

Those are much worse. This may be self-consciously non-partisan, but the others appeal to a type of innocuous liberalism that's so insufferably bland, it makes me want to beat the crap out of myself (as the nearest liberal available) and go buy an Ann Coulter book.

Now, in my book, this is satire and it's funny. Everyone gets lampooned. And the exaggerations are based on truth. The New Yorker was basically just a cartoon based on fear and nothing else. In the JibJab piece everyone's weaknesses are highlighted to ridiculous proportions.

Remember this one from 2004? One of the highlights of that year:

Then, of course, it all stopped being funny, but that's another story.

Thanks for posting that older 2004 Jibjab, Donaldw6. It's interesting to rewatch it once again. Not nearly as amusing as I remembered, and it's almost infuriating to watch Bush treated as if he were a harmless figure of fun after everything this administration has been guilty of. I imagine the new one will look equally dated four years from now, but for the time being it's an amusing parody on our current election cycle. Sophisticated satire with a particular point of view? Certainly not, but you can't deny that it's cute.

Funny as hell, honestly. It hits most of the lampoonable high points of the major candidates, as well as pointing out the farcical nature of our election cycle.

Made me laugh, even though it sorta hurts that it's so accurate...

Lame as usual, perfectly marketed though. Our corporate owners are probably laughing at us behind the scenes as we absorb this propaganda.

You are familiar with jib jab?

I don't know who owns them, but i think its in good fun. if you go and watch some of the older ones its pretty obvious.

Where is there a message in there? Propaganda? I dont see it at all, and if it was there i think i would.

Well for one thing, I doubt Fox News would be playing Jib Jab if it wasn’t cute and harmless. It’s ok to poke fun of politicians; they’re the useful idiots, as long as they don’t satirize the true nature of our government. A government that defends corporate interests over those of its citizens. Americans are being fed Jib Jab, to distract them from the real issues. This so called satire does nothing but humanize the pathological and sadistic nature of our government. It’s quite understandable; it makes evil look funny, it places disproportionate focus on the shallow personality traits of our political elite and ignores the plight of people, what a real accomplishment folks!
