LONDON — Ronnie Wood entered a rehabilitation facility Wednesday for help with alcoholism, said a spokeswoman for the Rolling Stones guitarist.

"Following Ronnie's continued battle with alcohol he has entered a period of rehab," the spokeswoman said on condition of anonymity as required by her agency. "His close family and friends say he is seeking help and look forward to his recovery."

Wood, 61, has fought a long battle with alcoholism during his rock 'n' roll career, which started in the 1960s when he played with the band The Faces.

His spokeswoman didn't release any details about the treatment he will receive or the clinic that he entered.

The craggy guitarist had seemed to be in good health in recent years. He has developed a strong second career as an artist, selling his paintings at some of London's respected art galleries.

But he has been the focus of feverish recent newspaper reports about his resuming drinking.

At least he's still alive to have a 2nd chance.

At this point the question is Ronnie who? He is a drugged out, washed up 200 year old over the hill hack.

You are quite wrong. He is a still-alive, still-evolving, human consciousness with a great deal of talent and some issues to work out.

Your dessert has gone to your head. He is neither 200 years old, a hack or over the hill. Perhaps he is drugged out, which I'm guessing is why he's in rehab.

Our legal drug causes many to conclude that an addiction is all about self-control.

Yep he started drinking again and apparently left his wife for an 18 year old Russian girl who just happened to be a cocktail waitress.
What a shame. I hope he finally gets sobered up and gets back to his music and his wife.

Craggy...that's very kind. And weren't they called the Small Faces? Steve Winwood?

"And weren't they called the Small Faces?"

No.

" Steve Winwood?"

Huh? Whats he got to do with it?

A little learning and all that...;p

Yes, wise-guy, they WERE called the Small Faces (at first) and no, Steve Winwood has nothing to do with it, I was thinking of Rod Stewart. I'm batting .500...and so are you.

I've been fortunate enough to have met Ronnie a few times backstage at various Stones shows and he is truly one the warmest and geniune people I havve ever met. It's very sad to see him this way but let's face it how can one expect to survive rehab when he's merely a guitar string away from Keith (perhaps the world's biggest enabler)?

I consider myself to be one of the biggest Stones fans but honestly if I was his therapist I would tell him in order to live he will have to quit the Stones. The sad thing is that even if he did quit the band he'd probably die from an aching heart for the band he's been a part of since the summer tour of 1975.

Ronnie stay strong, get well and all of our thoughts are with you.

To the people who are comparing the Small Faces to The Faces with Rod Stewart that's like comparing The Beatles to The Stones, they're both great with very distinctive sounds and should not be compared. Personally I worship both of them!

Not really if one is to recover which one is always doing, its a ongoing process, you have to change people, places and things. All the triggers that drove you to that self destructive life must change, good luck Ronnie I have always enjoyed your music, I hope you can find your higher power whatever that is to you to save yourself and the ones who love you.

It's a lifelong, progressive disease. It progresses even if you don't drink. If and when you do- it's like you never stopped. Scary. That's why people die.

Wishing Woodsy the best. It is a life long battle. His wife seems to love him and wants to stick by him. Commendable.

I say no-no-no

I thought he's been great since he was with Small Faces.
I wish him luck!

All due respect, the only Ronnie of any import in Small Faces was Ronnie Lane. Ron Wood was in Faces, which was a faint echo of the Small Faces. In fact, it could be argued that Ron Wood and Rod Stewart (it took the two of them to replace the great Steve Marriott) for all intents and purposes ruined the Small Faces. That line-up only put out one record under the name Small Faces - after that it was "Faces" and then "Rod Stewart and Faces" and then just Rod Stewart.

Rod. The name says it.

If it's Small Faces you want, check out "There Are But Four Small Faces" and "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake".

Not a Woodie or a Rod among them.

And Rod was best when he was with Jeff Beck. Beck's "Truth" album is still played frequently in this house.

Ogden's Nut Gone Flake is one of my all-time favorites.

Groping with stoker from the coast of Kuala Lumpar .... fantastic.

I wonder if MY wife would forgive me for a little indiscretion with a cocktail waitress if I checked into rehab two weeks later.

Might be worth a shot.

I love Ronnie Wood. At first I felt like giving him a high five for the young Russian waitress until I realized he had a stalwart wife who has stood by his side for twenty-plus years. He's an intelligent guy, which is often lost when you hear him speak or when he's in the midst of some rock star shenanigans. I pray that he gets his act together and gets healthy.
