Dems Make Major Ad Buy For Elizabeth Dole's Senate Seat

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is reserving major ad time in North Carolina.

The national group's ad buyer, Great American Media, has reserved several hundred thousand dollars of air time on behalf of Democratic candidate Kay Hagan at Raleigh TV station WRAL starting in mid-September and running through the November election.

The committee is also reportedly reserving time at stations across the state, potentially spending as much as $5 or $6 million.

DSCC spokesman Matthew Miller would neither confirm nor deny the amount, citing an official policy against discussing potential ad buys, but he said they are bullish on Hagan's chances against incumbent Republican Sen. Elizabeth Dole.

I heard Nancy Pelosi today say that you need a vote of 60 in the Senate just to get a bill considered................every Dem that is able to vote should vote so that the agenda for the American people can move forward and there can be a sizable Dem majority

There's something out there ... something not reflected in the polls like before the primaries in ohio pennsylvania kentucky. Republicans when matched with like candidates(read not black) male or female are losing seats they've held for years ... Elizabeth Dole will lose this seat held by republicans since 1964.

Yet McCain with all the missteps he's had ... with him now following Obamas lead in Afghanistan ... Iran ... Pakistan ... supposedly his strong suit (foreign policy) ... still he's only a few points down.

What accounts for this ...

North Carolinian here.....Elizabeth and Bob Dole represent what is wrong with "self-serving" public servants. Granted, Elizabeth did a great job with the Red Cross however, all we have experience here in North Carolina are GOP talking points and HER blind leadership to George W. Bush and failed policies. - enough already.

The Tar-heel state will turn blue this fall, marking the beginning of the end to Goldwater's Southern Strategy.

For far too long Southern Repubs have depressed their states’ financially, intellectually and morally (eg highest levels of poverty, lowest graduation rates/standard tests, highest divorce, and hate crime rates).

History will judge the Southern Strategy in a dark light as American’s second Civil War-- one waged against reason and decency by the Far Right’s weapons of division and fear.

The Rebel Flag will fall again as the politicians of the few will no longer be able to count on the ignorance of the many.
