ABC News, Washington Post Withheld Results Of Poll Favorable To Obama

ABC News and The Washington Post issued staggered releases of the results of their latest poll, withholding from their first release results favorable to Sen. Barack Obama, including the finding that 50 percent of registered voters would vote for Obama for president versus 42 percent for Sen. John McCain. The next day, the Post ran an article headlined "Poll Finds Voters Split on Candidates' Iraq-Pullout Positions," which did not mention Obama's 8-point lead over McCain. Later that day, ABC News and the Post issued a second release with additional poll results that stated: "Obama continues to hold most of the advantages in the presidential race."

Unfortunately, this is the type of biased political coverage that we've come to expect from much of our corporate MSM, particularly with respect to ABC. I am still upset with ABC for the outrageous and disrespectful manner in which they questioned Barack Obama during their hosting of one of the Democratic presidential debates a few months ago. Disgraceful. This is just more of the same.

If our country is to survive in any kind of meaningfully democratic and responsible way, media reform is an absolute must. The MSM is, in my opinion, severely dysfunctional. The "Fourth Estate" is on life support.

Unfortunately, this story is not surprising. ABC had shown their bias with their outrageously disrespectful line of questioning during their hosting of a Democratic presidential debate earlier this year (April?). We've come to expect such biased reporting from the corporate msm that plagues our nation.

It is unfortunate that ABC and the Washington Post have such a bias in their reporting. Reporters and editors show a disrespect for the public by not stating facts, then letting the public decide. The MSM has stopped reporting the news and has started telling us what to think. We have to many milloinaire pundits telling us what to think. The Washington circle and the Networks do not live in the same world most Americans do. They live in gated communities with neighbors who are close to their social status. Life is good for them they have great jobs, are paid well, and have very little reason to worry. I am sure they worked hard to get to their position, but they have no real connection with people outside of their circle. And if facts get in the way of their outlook they just change the facts because they think they know better or it suit their greater purpose.

I keep wondering when the world, especially the Obama part of it, is going to wake up to the fact that of all the alleged "MSM," no one is quite so right-wing or unashamedly McCain-boosting as ABC TV, particularly Charles Gibson's 6:30 "World News" program. Charlie himself is totally shameless, especially during those little daily segments in which he poses pointed anti-Obama questions to his "analyst," George Stephanopoulos. Or, as I call him, The Traitor.

The Gibson show always and openly gives the GOP candidate the best of it, and Gibson even asked McCain in a two-minute interview whether Obama wasn't killing himself with flip-flops. (McCain, realizing the question did all his work for him, said he'd let others decide.)

ABC is also helping to pioneer the insight that just repeating the results of a single poll question can be a powerful way to attack a candidate. For instance, saying over and over that McCain has better "commander­-in-chief" numbers -- or discussing it, as Matthews does on MSNBC -- is a good way to whack Obama while seeming (to yourself, at least) to be totally non-partisan.

Oh yeah. And as others pointed out --- the famous "Gotcha Debate" was ABC's work. Takes a lot for the general picture to sink in, doesn't it?

The MSM does not want Obama as President, but find him necessary to increase their ratings and ultimate increased profits.

While we are focused on FAUX News because we know where their loyalty lies, we fail to take much notice of what the rest are doing.

At least FAUX News is honest about their hatred of Obama and anything Democrat.

The MSM manipulation of the news, omission of the facts when it comes to McCains bloops and blunders, and the obsession and 24/7 coverage of anything negative about Obama, is now a commonplace occurence.

The only people we can rely on to tell the whole campaign story is Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow and Huffpost.

I have always wondered how Olberman, Maddow and Huff can find news, but the other so-called investigative journalists (some of whom are paid millions) fail to do the same.

It seems as if the 4th estate is showing their power in trying to manipulate the election outcome, and they have clearly chosen McCain over Obama.
