MediaMatters:

ABC News and The Washington Post issued staggered releases of the results of their latest poll, withholding from their first release results favorable to Sen. Barack Obama, including the finding that 50 percent of registered voters would vote for Obama for president versus 42 percent for Sen. John McCain. The next day, the Post ran an article headlined "Poll Finds Voters Split on Candidates' Iraq-Pullout Positions," which did not mention Obama's 8-point lead over McCain. Later that day, ABC News and the Post issued a second release with additional poll results that stated: "Obama continues to hold most of the advantages in the presidential race."

OMG I never suspected they would go that far. But after that debate fiasco with ABC I shouldn't be surprised but I am. And the Washington Post wonders why it's doing so poorly these days.

The Debate on ABC finished them with Obama supporters

The MSM can't report a big lead for Obama. After all, how will they be able to explain a McCain victory after Diebold does their magic?
Our electoral system is broken. The fastest way to solve this would to have a paper trail, but it keeps getting voted down. Wonder Why?

In Florida Democratic State Senators introduced a bill to insist on a paper trail for their electronic voting machines, but they are a minority. The Republicans added an amendment to that bill to move up the Florida primary date so it would violate Democratic Party rules.

Florida Democrats had to choose between having a paper trail or participating in the primary elections. Luckily for us, they chose to have a paper trail. I thank them for their sacrifice.

Of course! They're trying to help their buddy McCorpse who's tanking in the polls. No surprise here from the corporate media.

After all, how will they be able to explain a Mccain victory (with a little help from Diebold) if he is trailing by double digits?

WAPO stumped for the Iraq war and has supported bushco most of the past 8 yrs

ABC did the whole "path to 9/11? BS that blamed the Clintons for everything.

No surprise on what they did with the poll results

Third time I've tried to post here. It would not surprise me if the WP eventually endorses Mc C. Their editorials seem more and more critical of O.

It is mind boggling, but from the tone of some of their editorials, it would not surprise me if the WP eventually endorsed McC. If it does, that's it, I'm not reading it anymore; their transformation will be complete.

I used to like ABC...until today.

I have to admit though...hehehehe...I always liked BBC better! :-)

They don't play games like this. It's real journalism, regardless who it might hurt.

Obama '08. The only sane choice.

Yet another in a long line of examples of the fascist state that we've become. Joseph Gobbels would be so proud.

ABC has been out to get Obama since their incompetently moderated debate between Obama and Hillary.

They obviously had an agenda and pushed it -- despite the real news that voters still want Obama over McCain as President, which, by the way, is commander-in-chief. But that wasn't the healine or discussion they wanted. No wonder Obama has to run as the underdog.

Could we ask our lawmakers to license news organizations? I know there's no news. I know we have to dig, dig, dig and I do. But I have to work and raise a couple of kids. I not only have to research, but also re-educate all the people who don't do this, making me a very obnoxious co-worker, parent, girlfriend, etc. It's just wrong.

I get where you're coming from, but no. We cannot license news organizations. There's this little thing called the First Amendment, and thank God for it! If news organizations had to be licensed, who do you think would have gotten licensed during the last 8 years? We'd be drowning in Fox and ABC, with no MSNBC or HuffPo in sight.

Couldn't you have something like the BBC set-up.....?

No, news organizations can't be licensed, per se. But Congress CAN empower the FCC and the FEC to prohibit the manipulation of information in the election process so as to advance the media's interests rather than the peoples' interests.

Of course, that would take 1) a Democratic sweep of the White House and both houses of Congress; and 2) Congressional leadership with spine (something sorely lacking at present.)

i consider it a good thing. it allows Senator Obama not to get a big head and become arrogant based on these polls. Like ive been saying work like you are the underdog the one who has to win with a 1000000: 1 disadvantage. it makes you work even harder to get those votes out and those people to come to your side. this poll should have been skewed and so we can move forward with more strategies to get the people we need. But one caveat in all of this...dont waste money, use it as wisely as possible to accomplisht the 50 state strategy as well as the grass roots campaigning.
