ABC News, Washington Post Withheld Results Of Poll Favorable To Obama

ABC News and The Washington Post issued staggered releases of the results of their latest poll, withholding from their first release results favorable to Sen. Barack Obama, including the finding that 50 percent of registered voters would vote for Obama for president versus 42 percent for Sen. John McCain. The next day, the Post ran an article headlined "Poll Finds Voters Split on Candidates' Iraq-Pullout Positions," which did not mention Obama's 8-point lead over McCain. Later that day, ABC News and the Post issued a second release with additional poll results that stated: "Obama continues to hold most of the advantages in the presidential race."

They slated the balance of the release for after 5 p.m. on the second day, which would mean that the news cycle would be over by the time the next morning rolled around. Hence no notice in the morning news reports.

This comes as no surprise from the very conservative WaPo, but ABC being blatantly complicit in the deception is a new one to me.

I'm just glad I don't use either as a news source.

I'm not surprised after the fiasco of what was supposed to be a debate by ABC, you know Chris can't stand Obama, he is so afraid of Obama winning because of his pay he might get a raise in his tax bracket. Oh, lord no, I might actually have to pay my fair share.

I can't say that I'm not surprised. I have long lost respect for AABC news especially when they hosted that awful debate between Hillary and Obama. Charlie and George needed to be ashamed of themselves. I hope they will never host another debate ever again. They don't deserve the coverage.

Reporting the results of polls don't matter all that much, it's what the responses to the polls are that matter. In this case it becomes evident that the people who responded are for Obama. Whether or not ABC and WaPo release the answers is really immaterial. The majority of Americans want Obama and that's what will be the important thing come November.
