Jon Stewart Measures Candidates' Success Wooing Hispanics With Dobbs-O-Meter: "The Angrier Lou Dobbs Gets, The Better You're Doing"

On Thursday night's "Daily Show," Jon Stewart instituted a "Dobbs-o-Meter" to measure the presidential candidates' success in wooing Hispanic voters. "The best way to measure success in wooing the Latino community," Stewart says, "is by using the Dobbs-O-Meter: the angrier Lou Dobbs gets, the better you're doing." Stewart showed clips from the past week, during which the candidates reached out to Hispanic voters through the National Council of La Raza, and with each statement showed Dobbs' head growing larger and redder until it eventually exploded.

With all of Lou Dobbs posing as a champion of the "common man" he reminded me of something I could quite remember.

Then it occurred to me. Lou Dobbs IS Barton Fink.

As you will recall Barton was a playwright who wanted to write works celebrating the "Common Man."

But when he meets one, played by John Goodman, Barton ignores him. As Goodman's character keeps saying "The stories I could tell!" But Barton never listens

Dobbs reminds me of Barton. He is too busy pontificating his quasi-facist views he would never have time to listen to ANYONE. Let alone the "Common Man". (who, incidentally these days, is probably Hispanic)

And I kind of hope Dobbs gets a similar comeuppance as does Barton Fink.

I find LOU DOBBS to be EXTREMELY rude, and arrogant, and abnoxious, ESPECIALLY to guest who are democrats. If a guest mentions the name of any democratic poIitician on Lou's show, or tries to explain the democrats policies, no matter what that policy might be, Lou Dobbs becomes EXTREMELY rude, and abnoxious, worst that Bill O'Reilly, if that is even possible.
Lou Dobbs has lost all credibitly as an independent, HE IS A REPUBLICAN, simply playing this " independent" schitck.
Every night, 2 out of 3 of EVERY guest on Lou Dobbs show is a republican who Lou Dobbs cheers on as they make their republican talking points, bashing the democrats. As soon as the democrat guest starts to talk Lou Dobbs will RUDELY cut them off mid-sentence, start RAISING HIS VOICE, and begin ridiculing the democrat guest. It is just disgraceful LOU DOBBS behaves to his democratic guests.

Lou Dobbs has all these people watching his show, buying into his "indepnedent" schtick, but the total disrespect Lou Dobbs shows to his democartic guests, clearly shows that Lou Dobbs is a republican. LOU DOBBS is just too much of a coward to say it, because being an "independent is LOU DOBBS's entire "schtick", and if he loses that "schtick", LOU DOBBS also loses his audience, his job, and MONEY!!

I feel obligated to warn you. I was once like you. I refuted all humor with my witty witticisms and snarky tone. Nothing was funny anymore. Everyone was a juvenile hack and their audiences stupid rubes or sophomoric twits. In the end it didn't pay off for me. I commented about the Family Guy program some time back:

"I find the so-called "humor" of family guy to be in very, very poor taste! I was hospitalized on one occasion because the "humor joke" that I witnessed on the Family Guy program made me purse my lips together with such force, that a ligament in my mouth was torn..."

Well as it turns out, I had to suspend my comedy naysaying activities for a while.... Maybe lindefinitely. My lip pursing injury was so severe that the doctors don't know if I'll ever be able to purse my lips in annoyance again. The obicularis oris muscle is wound so tightly that it could snap and kill me. I urge you to lighten up, Ibivi. Before it's too late. However, if you cannot, you could take my place in our club. We meet once per week at Applebees in Topeka, the one by the highway. We dine together and generally disapprove of most comedy and comedians. Look us up!

LOL Some of Dobbs message is a bit off, but I'm a Dem...who believes in doing the right thing and waiting your turn...I lived in Japan for two years, I did everything I needed to do to be a good visitor..."You want me to go here, ok", show this documentation? Sure, Try to learn Japanese? will do! sorry, but I just don't believe is a free ride.... You must have real documentat­ion....pla­in and simple. NO other country on the planet has the weak borders as here in the US.

Lou Dobbs says he doesn’t advocate mass deportation, yet anytime anyone suggests anything that would accommodate those already here; he labels it amnesty and shoots it down. I have friends who are right wing living in cities like Vegas and even they are ok with an arrangement like the one Obama and others have suggested. So, Lou, if you aren’t for mass deportation, exactly what are you for?

I use to watch Lou Dobbs nightly. Always with a feeling of extreme unease. I never was sure why. One day, my 12 year old granddaughter is watching with me while Lou is getting into one of his famous ''I have the microphone and don't you dare talk while I'm talking but yet I can interrupt you all I want'' debate. My granddaughter gets up and says ''why is this man so angry, he scares me''. That did it. She was right. He is very scary.

Furthermore, he is the only anchor person that takes his hourly show to publicize his choice of being independent and encourages others to join the movement or group. You don't see anyone else with a show advertise that they are either democrats or republicans. He also takes his hourly show to advertise his radio show. Those emails he brags about. What about those that don't agree with him?

Lou is biased and the saddest part is that CNN lets him advocate what he wants, when he wants and the heck with destroying the reputation of someone else.

I've stopped watching his show and I feel a lot better for doing so.
