Politico:

If you've read enough profiles of Barack Obama, chances are you're familiar with the name Kirk Dillard. An accomplished and articulate legislator who served with Obama in the Illinois state Senate, he is frequently called on by the national media to shed light on the presumptive Democratic nominee's early days in politics.

Dillard is an unabashed admirer, one whose high praise for Obama led the campaign to feature him in Obama's first biographical television ad.

All of that wouldn't be so unusual except for the fact that Dillard is a Republican. And a delegate for John McCain.

This in a nutshell puts in perspective how the republicans are not seeking who is best for their country; they are looking for what is best to represent corporate interests. This guy is an antidote to the Hannities and Limbaugh who spend each day telling its viewers how scary and dishonest Obama is in various personal attacks.

It is strange that a guy this honest can remain in a party which uses such underhand attacks to maintain its power.

Kind of reminds me of the Clinton delegate who wanted to vote for Mc Cain. I guess if you are a delegate of another party... it's best to keep you admiration of the "opposition" to yourself.

Actually this person isnt voting for Obama he admires him this is not about two party system its about common decency towards each other we can disagree as I'm sure they do since he is supporting McCain but we dont have demonize each other. And that imo is a welcome change from the constant bickering and fighting and acting like you are representing two Americas when in reality its only ONE.

No. The evil still lives within most of the republicans. I don't want them anywhere near the democratic party. I'm serious. They are the most divisive and bigoted of all the hate groups out there.

The article points out the following but fails to follow up on it:

"Mr. Obama is not yet receiving the government intelligence briefing that is typically made available to a presidential candidate upon becoming his party’s nominee."
