Top Clinton Backers Tell Donors: Stop Whining

In a sign that senior Democratic officials remain deeply concerned that post-primary bitterness could imperil Barack Obama's chances, two top Democratic officials have emailed a sharply-worded letter to major donors and other leading Dems confessing "fatigue and irritation" at those withholding full support from Obama and demanding that they get behind him "without conditions or demands."

"I supported Hillary Clinton and am proud and pleased that I did," reads the email, which was written by Donald Fowler, a former DNC chair and DNC member-at-large who was one of Hillary's most prominent supporters. Alice Germond, the Secretary of the DNC, is also a signatory.

"But she lost," continues the email, which was sent our way by a source. Barack Obama won. It's over."

"Do the math?" - that's funny coming from someone who supported a campaign that couldn't even figure out CA wasn't winner take all, and could do the basic algebra and statistics necessary to realize the primary was mathematically over following Super Tuesday.

I've always found it hilarious that for months in late 2007, Clinton repeatedly said the primary would be over (with her victory, of course) as of Super Tuesday. So, I guess she was expecting every other candidate to bow down to her, and subsequently bow out of the primary, as of Super Tuesday, but when it was she who lost Super Tuesday, she thought that she was entitled to run until the bitter end, under the ridiculous pretext to supposedly count every last vote on her mathematically non-existent "path to the nomination", when had the ST results been different she would have expected everyone else to exit stage left as quickly as the could. Talk about a hypocrite, and talk about not being able to do, or accept, the cold hard math.

THIS argument is why this e-mail was necessary. She DID lose. It IS over. Either support the Party, or leave, but quit complaining about something that has long been settled.

I'm too smart to fall in line to vote for an unqualified candidate--Obama. My vote is to support a candidate who is best for the country; not blindly vote for the Democratic candidate. In the past 4 elections, the Democrats fielded the best candidates­--Clinton, Clinton, Gore, Kerry. It is so frustrating that the Dems are about to field an unqualified candidate-Obama who has no accomplishments to speak of. Some of us are smarter-- and I think that's the essence of PUMA -- than to vote for another unqualified candidate who did not receive the majority of the primary votes. My God, Obama looks and sounds more like Bush everyday.

Something tells me that "$0" is also what you contributed to HRC, along with so many of her other supposed supporters - because how can you claim 18M supporters, yet bring in so much less money than your competitor, especially when you're the one with all of the corporate big-money funders and bundlers?
