As Reuters reported earlier today, Iraqi Prime Minister al-Maliki has voiced his support for Obama's withdrawal plan. Needless to say, such support is not a PR victory for the Bush administration. And so it was no doubt embarrassing when, according to ABC's Jake Tapper, the White House sent the article--accidentally--to reporters:

The White House this afternoon accidentally sent to its extensive distribution list a Reuters story headlined "Iraqi PM backs Obama troop exit plan - magazine." [...}

The White House employee had intended to send the article to an internal distribution list, ABC News' Martha Raddatz reports, but hit the wrong button.

The misfire comes at an odd time for Bush foreign policy, at a time when Obama's campaign alleges the president is moving closer toward Obama's recommendations about international relations -- sending more U.S. troops to Afghanistan, discussing a "general time horizon" for U.S. troop withdrawal and launching talks with Iran.

Would love to know what other information never got released to the public so BushCo could pretend people thought he knew what he was doing.

Rove politics 101. Make it appear what is popular in your opponents platform, your own. Just steal it.

Now that it is offical, the Iraqi's want it the Obama way, lets do it right and check out. What can the GOP possibly argue with now? I mean besides the obvious nonarugment arguments with themselves and their shadow terror boggey men.

Hopefully they forwarded Bush's applicable past statements along with it, like this one:

"We are there at the invitation of the Iraqi government. This is a sovereign nation. Twelve million people went to the polls to approve a constitution. It's their government's choice," the president said during a Rose Garden news conference. "If they were to say 'leave', we would leave."

This "mistake" is either a deliberate effort to sabotage McCain or it's the price he pays for his assoication of convenience with the incompetent cronies of the Bush White House. In either case, Maliki's agreement with Obama's withdrawal timetable is a death blow to McCain's presidential pipe dream. McCain's entire campaign strategy just went down the drain. McCain is toast.

After 8 years the Bush WH is finally getting a clue. Even GWB can grow up and act like an adult, once a year or so.

Don't be fooled. It's no accident. Bush wants to leave office on slightly higher standing by supporting Obama's plans.
