White House Accidentally E-Mails Story On Iraqi PM Backing Obama Withdrawal Plan To Reporters

As Reuters reported earlier today, Iraqi Prime Minister al-Maliki has voiced his support for Obama's withdrawal plan. Needless to say, such support is not a PR victory for the Bush administration. And so it was no doubt embarrassing when, according to ABC's Jake Tapper, the White House sent the article--accidentally--to reporters:

The White House this afternoon accidentally sent to its extensive distribution list a Reuters story headlined "Iraqi PM backs Obama troop exit plan - magazine." [...}

The White House employee had intended to send the article to an internal distribution list, ABC News' Martha Raddatz reports, but hit the wrong button.

The misfire comes at an odd time for Bush foreign policy, at a time when Obama's campaign alleges the president is moving closer toward Obama's recommendations about international relations -- sending more U.S. troops to Afghanistan, discussing a "general time horizon" for U.S. troop withdrawal and launching talks with Iran.

Three ocasions they have backed Obama's views. The bombing in Paskitan, The drawing of troops from Iraq with a time period, and adding more troops for Afghanistan. The only thing they did was call the troop withdrawal in Iraq a different name. You almost have to sit back and smile about it all.

There is no doubt that Prime Minister al-Maliki likes Obama's idea. Moreover, I think there is a tacit alliance between Iraq and the government of Iran with regard to long term cooperation such as trade. The only thing stopping it from its full implementation is the Bush Administration who wants to cut some kind of long term oil deal--after all, the war in Iraq was Cheney's idea who had oil profits in mind. On the same token, all the money wasted in Iraq could have long ago rebuilt Afghanistan. Under Bush and Cheney's malfeasance we are back to square one--and trillions of dollars in the hole.
