Buried in an article on the veep-vetting process comes this piece of information:

Democrats said they thought it was less likely now than it was a month ago that Mr. Obama would choose Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York as his running mate, though they said she remained in consideration and that she was being vetted.

If he does not choose Mrs. Clinton, several Democrats said, it would be difficult for him to name any woman -- like Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas, someone for whom he has had warm words. Both Clinton and Obama advisers said such a move could create a backlash among women who supported Mrs. Clinton.

Clinton adviser Howard Wolfson said recently that she was not being vetted "as far as I know." The Huffington Post reported on Hillraisers who aren't bundling money for Obama but say they would if he picked Clinton for VP.

I agree with: Luvienne-TheOneironaut-Dustee. She is not fully vetted because there is the Pres. Library & the deals with Foreign officials. This is a LIE. I am old enough ti remember all the scandals surrounding her and you can bet the Repubs will just pull out the old archives & have a field day.
I don't understand the older women-you also lived through this mess!. SORRY no can do agin!

With Hillary may be the only way I vote for him.
Otherwise, I may choose not to vote for President.

Can't his unpleasant woman please just go away, or go back to NY or AK or Chicago or wherever she is from "today"?

To you and your unlikely allies on the right she is an annoyance, a threat and every other bit of invective they can come up with. I'm a male under forty with a grad degree who voted for Hillary, but as soon as Obama clinched it I was fully behind him. There are plenty of "tantrums going on by both sides here. Grown ups understand that what's truly important re the issues at stake...Remeber? Whomever Obama picks we must all support the ticket. Hillary is very much on the same page as Obama on critical issues; Supreme Court apptmnts, energy and environment, healthcare, Iraq exit strategy etc... I really hope that both ardent Hillary and Obama supporters can get over the petty 7th grade schoolgirl bickering and just vote "Line A" all the way in November 09! Thank you very much......

Hopefully, it will be without Hillary! If you choose not to exercise your right to vote bcuz you're having a temper tantrum, so be it, life will go on. But, you deal with the outcome should a rethug get in!

Just because one doesn't take advantage of their right to vote doesn't make them any less "american". Do you think insulting them is going to make them MORE likely to go to the polls? LOL... y'all are killing me.

I still want to know from Olivia where she saw any proof that Hillary Clinton opposes Sibelius. She never said any such thing or that she opposes anyone else for that matter. I am sick and tired of people making statements that are merely in their own narrow minds with no proof to back those statements up.

Can you tell me why you trust Obama and not Hillary? Could it be the Repub bashing that has gone on for the past 2 decades is sticking, even with Dems? Get some real FACTS before you pass judgment .

I wasn't against Hillary being VP until, at the end of the primary, she alluded to an Obama assassination with her RFK reference.

That said, I'd still vote for Obama with her on the ticket - it's still better than McCain, Barr or Nader.

That is a lie and either you know it, or you are a parrot. You shouldn't repeat things that you do not know to be true. Never was there an allusion to O in her remark and don't try to defend what you just said; I know better.

How certain you are of your opinion that leaves no room for others. To some her choice of words and what they conveyed about Obama were implicit, however subconscious.

At the least, it was a verbal slip-up she knew better than to make.

If it looks like he needs her and her supporters, he will pick her. That's politics. Period. End of story.

Obama already has most of these 18M votes, but you state this as if ALL of Clinton's 18M supporters are just waiting for the VP decision and if she doesn't get it, well then they will just sit out, vote McCain, or write-in.

The evidence, from polling as well as anecdotal, indicates that the vast majority of Hillary's supporters, loyal to the Democratic Party and platform, are now soundly behind Obama and their support is not remotely contingent upon Clinton being named VP. The vocal dissenters, really, are those who are still angry she didn't get the nomination, such as PUMA and a negligible handful of Hillraisers, and have clearly stated that they would not vote for an Obama presidency even if Hillary gets VP. So, if would seem to me, that there are very relative few who are really waiting for his VP pick, as most have already chosen one way or the other, so it's probably of little consequence to his GE chances whether or not he chooses Clinton.

Everyone might as well decide now. Clinton will not be picked. Her husband has destroyed any chances of that, both through his childish, devisive, uncontrolled behavior during the primary, as well as his unwillingness to undergo vetting. Obama will not place Clinton, with an unvetted Bill lurking behind her, on the ticket, as it would be not unlike chumming the water for sharks, the sharks being the Rublican Party.

Why can't those 18 million voters send her $2.00 and get the woman out of DEBT? Well, I don't really know what her debt is ... when a person lies, it's hard to recognize when they tell the truth. Her debt might actually increase as the donations roll in.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:12 AM on 07/22/2008

Well,if he feels like he needs her supporters more than he needs his, then good luck to him. Clinton as VP,to the its will be his first poor judgement.
Beside it will just give the GOP something to talk about,The Appeaser.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:26 PM on 07/21/2008

Most of Hillary's "vetting" has been while she was the first lady, and a majority of it was actually Bill's vetting and she got dragged along thru the mud. Now, if she is being vetted, they will have to disclose and investigate all of the things that the Clintons have done post-2000. The biggest difference here is that they did not have the Presidential Pardon to clean up all the evidence or hide "yesterday's underwear".

She is NOT the most vetted politician. Her past may be the most vetted, but not her present. Who knows what other land deals and insider trading lurk in the background? If she's fully vetted, it would also need to include a full detailing of who gave money to the Clinton Library and in what amounts. This would of course include millions by rich oil men, Saudi Princes, etc. Not a good start: she won't make it out of the gate, let alone win.

I used to think that Obama would never in a million years choose Hillary Clinton as his VP, but his recent "moves to the center" (ahem... actually moves to the far right, as he was a centrist with right leanings to begin with), make this a very real possibility.

I think he will choose someone male, but it will have nothing to do with the former candidate, but entirely due to the qualifications of other contenders. She gives herself SOOOO much credit, which is not deserved in the least. I think it would be great if he chose Edwards or Richardson, but will support him regardless of whom he chooses.

I am a die-hard Obama supporter because he has promised us change in Washington. If HRC had been the one to run in that promise, I would have supported her. She did not or could not, and so she did not win the nomination. But I do think that HRC should get credit for being a great candidate. If she had run her campaign from the beginning, like she did the last two months, she would probably have won pretty easily.
I for one, think she would make a good running-mate, and a shoe-in to take over in 2016.

This is exactly what I have been trying to convey to our fellow supporters of Obama. For clarity,I am a dyed-in-the-wood independent Obama supporter. At least, the primary agenda will still be Obama's with a considerable input from Hillary. The MSM have been using this "surge" in apathetic Republicans suddenly coming alive to "vote against" Hillary which I do not believe. When last was the MSM right on anything? Those Republicans are not fools. While some may still hang on to party allegiances and others to identity politics, many are still sharing this planet with us and pay the same price at the gas pump. Though they will not voice it out, you may be surprised that most moderate Republicans will go into that booth and pull the lever for Obama, hoping to revert to voting Republican when those rascals get their acts together, The economics and security interests will drive the voting pattern in this election and every decision will be made in the secrecy of that voting booth.

As an avid Obama supporter, I love the fact that Hillary is being vetted for VP. I believe in redemption. The primaries was a family affair. Like a boxing match, it is supposed to be a contest, sometimes with very rough tackles. But at the end of the match, both boxers usually hog each other no matter who lost. I will urge those who support Obama like me not to fall into the same PUMA-syndrome to trash Bill and Hillary (that may have been "legit" during the primaries). They are still a part of the family and their contributions to the Democratic party are yet to be exhausted. If God forgives us our transgressions (if you believe in God) who are we to lock our minds of forgiveness and throw away the keys.
I sincerely believe that Hillary (and Bill) no matter what the MSM wants folks to believe still brings a lot to the table. Even if Obama ends up not picking Hillary (for whatever well-researched reasons), I WILL STILL VOTE FOR HIM.
This is my humble opinion.

But your post suggests you would vote for him "in spite of" her and it would not be smart for Obama to create such a ticket. Why would he make enthusiastic people hold their noses to vote for him?

Many people are undecided at this point and she would only hurt his chances with them.

That post took some nuts to write, considering the legions of Clinton supporters who would rather live under McCain fascism than vote for Obama. Their behavior is despicable.

We dont VOTE for Obama or who ever.We vote for certain principles which Obama looks like he is standing for and which has never been part of the Clintons DNA. Its that simple,Should Hillary be on the ticket then, people might start asking question, are just gonna vote for Obama's ticket or are we voting for something more and how does Clinton fit in?
By the way just Imagine an Obama presidency with Clinton and her title shopping donors threatening him every day.
