Car culture blog Jalopnik noted that an original owner's manual for the long-gone iconic General Motors EV-1 electric car was on eBay for a million bucks -- reduced, by the time of this writing, too a mere $100,000. Jalopnik thinks the price will continue to sink, writing, "We're pretty sure the seller is just shooting for a big offer, so the buyer who shells out $500 for it feels like he or she got a great deal, but who knows?"
The eBay listing for the EV-1 owner's manual says the auction ends this week.
Maybe you know of the EV1 because you're a car person or an environment person, or maybe you know of it because you've seen the documentary "Who Killed The Electric Car?" but in any case, whether electric cars catch on in the near future or not, it's an important piece of both automotive and environmental history.
Incidentally, for anyone else interested in lower-priced relics of the EV1, there are plenty of options on eBay.
Gotta hope some lessons were learned beyond changing branding strategies.
