Justin Timberlake "I Love Sports" Video From The ESPYs

ESPYs host Justin Timberlake stole the show Sunday night when ESPN broadcast its annual awards show, which was filmed last Wednesday at Los Angeles' Nokia Theater. Timberlake seamlessly transitioned from awestruck fan to master comedian and musician as he ribbed Kansas Jayhawks star Mario Chalmers for beating his beloved Memphis Tigers in the NCAA final, teased Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning for finally getting to see a woman naked after marrying his college sweetheart, Abby, and consoled Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre's maybe-replacement in the Packers QB spot (not to mention announcing that Roger Clemens might be missing the next 5-10 ESPY awards, as well as a host of Mitchell Report jokes).

Below, watch Timberlake's musical number, "I Love Sports," where he reflected on the sports year that was, poked some fun at celebrity couples Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo and Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen, and made light of the wardrobe malfunction scandal from the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show (which, incidentally, was back in the news Monday when a court tossed the FCC's fine against CBS over the incident):

I have never been a Timberlake fan before but seeing his performance on ESPY the other night, I am totally impressed. He made the show.

I had never paid a minutes notice to this guy until I saw his brilliant preformance in the film Alpha Dog.
He was amazing and there was rumor of him getting the nod for a oscar. I watched the Espys and thought he did a excellent job ... really outstanding. Seems like this guy can do it all; act, sing, dance,

I don't like his type of pop music at all, but he truly is an entertainer. He sings live, plays instruments, dances, acts, has comedic timing, he is gracious to his fans and his dancers on his tours, his shows are huge events with loads of different elements... you name it and he can do it. And he has a great attitude. He never got affected by this young Hollywood trash. He has my respect.

I liked it. Don't like JT but the performance was good and he can sing. The Janet Jackson thing was tacky since he bore no responsibility for the malfunction.

I found myself laughing and smiling hard the whole show and I saw the audience laughing as well. VERY entertaining. This young man did very well. I like the show cause normally male artist types tend to come off as too feminine, especially in front of athletic men such as this audience. He included many of them in his skit and best of all, had the show moving along at a very quick pace. Good job!

Looks like Justin put his heart and soul into performing this. He still has a thin voice and a very silly cocksure-wannabe way about him. But he's the kind of guy who, when given great material by superior humorous and vocal minds than himself, can adequately perform it. It was fairly obvious that unlike the Oscars where the host his the first and last say about all material developed, that Justin simply came in and performed the stuff that was given to him. But in terms of that, he pulled it off.

What bothered me a bit was that the song was supposed to be about why he loves sports, yet the topics were about all the gossip and scandal and distraction SURROUNDING sports, and only a few things were actually about sports themselves. I don't love sports because of the scandals or which quarterback's dating what hot model. I love sports DESPITE that stuff.

To be so young, he had a tough job. I thought he did okay, but his stand up routine at the opening was PAINFUL. I told my husband it would have been great to see more people actually winning, instead of so much JT. All we got were quick pictures of many athletes winning, but we never saw their names called and they weren't able to give a short speech or anything. Then, we'd get a mini-movie from JT or a variety-show act. Having said that, though, given the task he had, and given his age, I was impressed that he even tried.
