Lieberman

ABC News:

"Look, the fact is that if Barack Obama's policy on Iraq had been implemented, Barack Obama couldn't go to Iraq today, it wouldn't be safe," Sen. Joe Lieberman, Ind-Conn., told Chris Wallace this morning on "Fox News Sunday."

"Barack Obama, John McCain saw the same difficulty in Iraq," Lieberman argued, "John McCain had the guts to argue against public opinion, to put his whole campaign on the line because, as he says, he'd rather lose an election than lose a war that he thinks is this important to the United States..."

Lieberman continued: "Sen. McCain and I and others want us out of Iraq, sooner rather than later, but want us out in a way that does not compromise all the gains that American and Iraqi forces have made in Iraq ... And frankly, we want to stay there to a victory, because we don't want all those who have served in the American uniform there to have served, or in some cases died, in vain. Remember this, Chris, we wouldn't be having this discussion about how to get out unless the surge, which John McCain courageously fought for, taking on the president of his own party, popular opinion, risking his campaign, and which Sen. Obama opposed, worked. So, that's the good news."

If Reid and Pelosi do not toss him off anything with the name democrat on it they might be run out of town. Lieberman gives Mccain far to much credit and power as Obama is doing a world wide trip not just the Iraq trip Mccain pushed, prodded and made every effort to box Obama into corner and of course Mccain really did not want Obama to go as it gave Mccain something to make noise about. When Obama decided to actually go the trip became a huge rock around Mccain's neck as it focused on how little reality was anything having to do with Mccain and all he has said and down about the war. Mccain didn't even pay any attention to Afghanistan until forced to by Obama as the only war he was into was Iraq. Joe and John might ought to take new meds.

It's a sad day for the republicans when they believe they need lieberman on their side. Didn't they hate him in 2000? Very pathetic state of affairs for the Grand Oil Party,

If Lieberman were honest (and if pigs could fly), he would also say that none of the "difficulty" he references would have existed if he and McCain did not have the complete lack of judgement and the weakness of mind that led them to support the biggest foreign policy blunder in the history of the nation as authored by its most incompetent president ever. The first error is not made better by flimsy arguments that the almighty "surge" was a "genius strategy". Never has a last ditch act of desperate effort in the face of absolute failure been hailed so totally and illogically as an excuse for the original error. We are weaker as a net result even though we may have reduced the magnitude of the disaster by just a bit. You want to talk "judgement" Lieberman, lets go back to the beginning of this costly and insane nightmare.

Go sit down, Joe. You screwed the dems, you screwed CT, you screwed the country. Noone cares what you say to, for, or from the repugs. You are done. Washed up. And the good name you once had is forever tainted by the foolishness that you and the mrs perpetrated on the people of Ct. Now the repugs are almost done with you. Soon there will be nowhere to go and you and the mrs can go live in Arizona, near the McCains. If they tell you where they live, that is.........

It's pretty clear why Al Gore lost in 2000.

I was always puzzled by Gore's selection of Lieberman. Lieberman reprimanded Clinton for his sexual misconduct in Congress, which was a reason to select him, I read.

Lieberman is such a liar! He said, '...which John McCain courageously fought for, taking on the president of his own party."

McCain did NOT take on the President. The President is the person who ISSUED the surge, which he violated his constitutional powers when he did that.

January 2007 -- "President Bush won't announce his plan to increase the number of troops in Iraq until tomorrow night, but Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) has already introduced legislation that would require Bush to get Congress' approval for his plan."

See, Joe Lieberman, IT WAS George Bush's IDEA and John McCain agreed with George Bush on the surge, not the other way around!

One thing Joe leaves OUT of the "surge" discussion is:
We have put a 100,000 Sunni militia on the American payroll, people who used to be shooting at the United States who are now on OUR payroll.

Pretty easy to keep violence down in Iraq when the WE ARE PAYING THE PEOPLE SHOOTING AT US NOT TO SHOOT AT US.

HEY JOE LIEBERMAN, HOW MUCH TAXPAYER MONEY HAS BUSH/MCCAIN PAID THE MILITIA NOT TO SHOOT AT US. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW!

You forget Joe, Barack Obama had the guts to speak out against the war when it wasn't the safe thing to do, when everyone else was for the war. He had the foresight and the judgement to predict the outcome 5years in advance. McCain seems to need a war more than Bush, he's forever chasing the victory denied him in the Vietnam fiasco. Someone needs to tell him that that the war is over, that one and this one. The Iraq mission was to remove Saddam... mission accomplished. Now it's time to find bin Laden.

When the Repugnants threw the gauntlet down over Obama's travel itinery, little did they realize that his taking it up would the turning point of this election. Never in their wildest imaginations did they think that if you gave a lemon to an "elitist" he would know how to make lemonade. They will engage in collective self-flagellation over having not waited a week or two before the election before bringing the subject up.
