ABC News:

"Look, the fact is that if Barack Obama's policy on Iraq had been implemented, Barack Obama couldn't go to Iraq today, it wouldn't be safe," Sen. Joe Lieberman, Ind-Conn., told Chris Wallace this morning on "Fox News Sunday."

"Barack Obama, John McCain saw the same difficulty in Iraq," Lieberman argued, "John McCain had the guts to argue against public opinion, to put his whole campaign on the line because, as he says, he'd rather lose an election than lose a war that he thinks is this important to the United States..."

Lieberman continued: "Sen. McCain and I and others want us out of Iraq, sooner rather than later, but want us out in a way that does not compromise all the gains that American and Iraqi forces have made in Iraq ... And frankly, we want to stay there to a victory, because we don't want all those who have served in the American uniform there to have served, or in some cases died, in vain. Remember this, Chris, we wouldn't be having this discussion about how to get out unless the surge, which John McCain courageously fought for, taking on the president of his own party, popular opinion, risking his campaign, and which Sen. Obama opposed, worked. So, that's the good news."

Lieberman has found his venue, i.e., Fox News. Hey Joe, no one is listening anymore. The more you speak the more people turn away. You started your term as an Independent Democrat (your own characterization), but now there is no way you can lay claim to being a Democrat, Independent or otherwise. Regardless of how the presidential race goes, your will be kicked out of the Democratic party and left to fact the Connecticut voters as a Republican. Just to allay your concerns in this regard, no one likes a turncoat. Your old collegues will have nothing to do with you, and your new collegues won't trust you.

Anyone who has living memory of the carnage of WW2 and every other war of the last 60 years (that would be you, Joe) and can still advocate for incinerating human beings with the bravery of being out of range (and never having served themselves) is exemplary of how sick, insane and degenerate most of our so-called leaders are. Joe is certainly near the top of that list, as is every other 60+ something who can't see any alternative to killing. "Dangerous world...blah, blah" "eradication of Israel...blah, blah", "partisan bickering..blah, blah". Neanderthals with bigger clubs who talk as though they are religious, intellectual and reasoned, but at the end of the day, think murder is the way to "protect US interests abroad".

A sick, insane, degenerate old man, who should have been put out on an ice floe about the time he joined the Ken Starr witch-hunt against Clinton.

I'm still waiting for that "Peace through strength" we've been hearing about since, uh, forever.

Lieberman has found his venue, i.e., Fox News. Lieberman speaks and no one is listening. Once the election is over, regardless of who wins the presidential race, the Senate is going to go Democratic, and when it does Reid will not need Lieberman's vote. When this happens Lieberman should be kicked out of the Democratic Party. The voters of Connecticut can then have at this traitor when his seat is up for grabs.

Why does Lieberman sound more and more like Scott Farkus's ( from A Christmas Story) toady?

If it wasn't for Bush, McCain and the other war mongers..there would be no need to go to Iraq..There wouldn't be a war in Iraq. According to Phillip Zelikow,(Bush adviser and 911 commission member)"Iraq war was launched to protect Israel."

If McCain and his Mentor BUSH had not pushed to sustain this war with all of their might against the wills of people from BOTH countries then Obama would be HERE talking to all of our Military people IN PEACE!!! Dealing with OUR Problems and Gas would be affordable and WE all would be HAPPY!!!

Since the Republicans have framed the Iraq debate in terms of the level of violence, the only way we can "win" is to stay in Iraq and keep fighting. If we withdraw at any point in time, even 100 years from now, the insurgents win and we lose. Iran will have more influence than us and we will not have control of their oil.

The insurgents in the country are fighting for two things: political power and to make the US leave. No matter how large our surge is, they will still want those two things, so we have placed ourselves into a situation where there is no winning or losing. We have no enemies there. We just want to keep our influence on their political system and oil supplies.

The surge may help reduce violence, but will never make Iraq have WMD, will never expose any Iraq-Al Qaeda ties, will never bring back our 5,000 troops, will never bring back our $1 trillion, will never revive the 1 million dead Iraqis, will never reduce our debt, will never strengthen our dollar, will never rebuild our moral standing in the world and will never convince me that this war was a good idea.

If we'd already pulled out, why would he go to Iraq?

Yeah, not a Dem. but still holds on to the benefits provided by his past party affiliation, such as:

Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee;
Member of the Armed Services Committee, where he is Chairman of the AirLand Subcommittee and sits on the Subcommittee on Seapower and the Subcommittee on Personnel;
Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, Chairman of the Private Sector and Consumer Solutions to Global Warming and Wildlife Protection Subcommittee; and
Member of the Senate Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee

. . . . . it's just embarrassing

Joe and Rudy and all the surrogates are out in full force again this morning, add latest blowhard Michael Reagan on CNN obediently re-issuing the tiresome rhetoric that now has McCain personally responsible for a successful surge of a war that should never have started.

The collective string has been pulled on the Repug faithful, repeating the hypothetical Obama Iraq loss robotically to anyone with a microphone along with the other nonsensical ‘could have, would have’ statements emanating from the McCain camp that only a fourth grader could appreciate.

Obama’s ‘we need more troops in Afghanistan’ a year ago, is only one example that completely stomps McCain’s poorly choreographed albeit sudden, surge accomplishments.
