Matthew Yglesias:

John McCain, like all decent Americans, is concerned about the trouble on the Iraq-Pakistan border. Ali Frick, like a typical liberal, derides this on the grounds that there is no such border. But if she had McCain's years of foreign policy expertise and extensive conversations with John McCain she would have access to this double super-secret map of the CENTCOM AOR

McCain graduated from the Naval Academy 895th in a class of 900. He's not very smart.

If the mainstream media treated John McCain fairly, all of the gaffes, missteps, petty insults, rattling sabers and vacuous observations would be the subject of a two-hour prime time special.

Is it possible McCain does not realize how pathetic and foolish he sounds when he criticizes Obama for lack of foreign policy experience? The world has had all of the Bush-McCain foreign fallacy experience it can tolerate.

Bush, Cheney, Rove, McCain, Lieberman, Gramm-- how can anyone admire a political party with spokespersons of that ilk? Every one timeworn, vindictive, discredited, disoriented, disloyal, and devoid of creative thought.

That map was drawn by Bush, correct? Looks like his professional handiwork.

The bar was set so low with george bush that the next neocon in line can use a walker to get over it with ease. And I'm sure McSame has many of those sitting around for easy access. Obama sitting in the oval office will reset the bar so chumps need no longer to apply.

The sad part: as low as GW set the bar, Mc'Cain is looking WORSE in comparison!

mccain is thinking where is joe lieberman when i need him = this is a man that has sooooooooooo much experience " i know to win wars" if obama made that mistake it would have been on the news cycle for 24hrs talk about who's in the tank for who.. that's the dust up about the times article so we won't talk about this mistake.

895 out of a class of 899 ? Isn't this the criteria prospective employers look at before hiring someone? How does someone with this obtuse intellect even get a job?People, people,I beseech you, there's a car wash somewhere out there looking for the right man to wipe,or maybe just blow hot air. Please don't deprive him of his destiny.

You are right. To me it's not his age, it's his intellect or lack there of. Our leader should come from the top of the class. Most businesses don't go bottom fishing for an employee - we should not either - not again anyway.

I agree it was a kind of Freudian slip. He was thinking after I obliterate Iraq, there will be an Iraqi-Pakistan border. Am I giving him too much credit? Probably!

I think you are giving him too much credit...He is an old geezer who doesnt have the mental capacity for the job...For crying out loud, he doesnt work /"campaign" on the weekends so fatigue could NOT be the issue...He whether he knows it or not he is the GOPers sacrificial lamb.

Folks, don't you think that a person in the mediocre stature of McCain to contest for the POTUS is an insult to the "intelligence" of the American body politic?

Usually I would agree with your statement, but new precedent has been set.

fortunately for mccain the vast majority of the american population is equally unaware that the two nations don't even come close to sharing a border, most couldn't find them on a map if their life depended on it. all i keep hearing from the press is that "he misspoke," yeah he sure does a lot of that, so how long before it's more than just a simple misstatement?

You would be right, except for the tiny little fact that maps of the middle East have been shown daily & nightly on every news channel, forcing the populus to acknowledge which countries are where. Increasing coverage of Iran lately has just driven the knowledge home!

You know something, I think we might be mistaken about McCain. I think he has been implanted with a microchip that has taken his brain power to the level of a human evolved a million years in the future, (that may explain the swollen check pouches). That’s why he keeps saying Czechoslovakia. Maybe he knows that the nations of the Czech Republic and Slovakia will rejoin in the distant future and reassume their former name. That’s why he mentions the Pakistan/Iraq border. He knows one day the land that is Iraq will be gone through some natural disaster or a nuclear accident by Iran and the areas of Pakistan and Iran will have a border. Maybe he will use his mental powers and warp time and space so that Iraq folds over onto itself and Iran and Pakistan will then have a border. Maybe, just maybe he knows that Iran will conquer Iraq and make it part of Iran. That’s logical, right.?? If not, we are looking at the beginnings of dementia because the gaffes are starting to come fast and furious. I hope he makes it to the general election, but this microchip only has so much power but the battery dies.

This election is going to be very telling, if this man wins we will know America is still stuck in the old ways of thinking and it will be quite sad.

There is now way this man should be running this Country, no way. He is a terribly flawed candidate.

For a man with so much "experience" he should not be making the mistakes he makes.

However, the many people who cannot see themselves ever to vote for a black president will vote for this white guy just because. Sad!

When Jackie Robinson hit the diamond many Americans were angry, but his skill and audacity won the majority of Americans over...SO much so that nowadays we dont think twice to see a rainbow of men from all over the world on the field...I think the same thing will apply with Barack...In many cases, he might be one of the first non-charactured, Non Thuggish and Non welfare queenish African American that some rural American folks have ever seen...And I will bet that his skill and audacity will win the hearts of Most of these Americans just like Jackie Robinson did....
