McCain Surrogate: He Could Withdraw From Iraq Before Obama!

Talking Points Memo   |   July 22, 2008 01:06 PM

The McCain campaign has come up with an intriguing new way to sell his opposition to a timetable for withdrawal: McCain just might withdraw from Iraq sooner than Obama's 16 month deadline!

"He'd like troops to come home earlier than 16 months if the conditions allow it," said Congresswoman Heather Wilson of New Mexico, on a conference call with reporters just now. "Senator Obama has said it's a 16-month timeline no matter what."

Wilson walked this line back a bit later on, reminding people that any such withdrawal would have to be based on conditions on the ground, and might take longer: "Whether that happens in 12 months, or 16 months, or 24 months, the important thing is that our troops come home with victory and America's vital national interests secured."

A frightening surrogate!

Heather Wilson is a wacko. She joins Peggy Noonan as the other Republican who seems to have the emotional impulses of Howard Stern's Underdog Lady.

And she is uglier than Janet Reno to boot. She looks like one of those women you see in the compound of that Mormon polygamist cult.

This surrogate's statements makes me think in the People of the Lie by the late Scot Peck. She would pass a lie detector test thanks to the power of self-deception. McCain's 2008 is opposing Obama's message of Hope with the power of true lies. That's a sad development.

This man/women (?) tee hee, is deeply guilty in the mess with the fired Attorney Generals. I would not listen to a word this "person" says, even if I could stand to look at him/her long enough to hear it.

"McCain just might withdraw from Iraq sooner than Obama's 16 month deadline!"

Huh? I thought McCane wanted us to stay in Iraq for 100 years.

McCain started out with the unpopular statement that he'd be willing to keep troops in Iraq for 100 years (provided they were not in danger). Next, he made a statement that he plans to have the troops leave in 2013. Now he's telegraphing through his surrogate a claim that he can have the troops home before Obama can.

So McCain's plans for troop return is gradually moving back on the calendar. At this rate, McCain will soon release a statement that the troops are _already_ home in America. His final "October surprise" to gain more votes in the election will be to claim that the troops were never sent to Iraq in the first place!

Just another token female mouthpiece for McCain to wave around with absolutely no idea where McCain stands politically while spouting off imaginary political positions out-Obama-ing Obama in order to court Hillary Dems.

Hint: just vote for Obama, ladies, and save us all the trouble of listening to this crap.

AND the moon is made of green cheese, the world is flat, and the earth is the center of the universe. Just one more ridiculous statement to add to this list. God do they think we have no brains?

Yes, and why did McCane and Bush flip flop? because of Obama. Obama is calling the shots now.

By convention time, the Bush administration will declare victory and McCain will ask for a partial withdrawl to help himself in the election.

As a New Mexican, the old saying is extremely applicable: You can tell when Heather Wilson is lying because her lips are moving. Heather Wilson is a Bushy through-and-through, and wouldn't wipe her a$$ without his permission.

Hey HP, how about moderating the comments for this post before the U.S. pulls out of Iraq?

FLIP FLOP! So what hasn't McSame flip-flopped on?

By the way, shouldn't Heather Wilson be in some sort of trouble for interfering with the workings of the US Attorney? Where are the "journalists/reporters" with that story? I guess it was too much hard work.

Do you get the feeling that the phrase

"Pulling Out"

Just has waaaay too much connotation for an old whiteguy to handle?

"Whatya MEAN, pull out - I haven't come there yet!"

Republicans lie. That"s how they win elections.

Heather Wilson lied about Obama"s plan for withdrawal from Iraq:
"Senator Obama has said it's a 16-month timeline no matter what."

No he didn"t say no matter what, you liar.

Heather Wilson is lying about what the Repubs will do if elected:
"He'd like troops to come home earlier than 16 months if the conditions allow itŠ"

He"d "like" the troops to come home. Bullcr@p.

They will keep us engaged in Iraq for many years because that allows them to artificially reduce and stabilize the Iraq oil supply, which allows OPEC to illegally increase oil prices worldwide. That price manipulation is how BushCo, McSame, the Saudis and other billionaires with oil interests continue to steal from the rest of us. We pay for Iraq in taxes and lives, they reap the profits.

Bush lied to seniors to get reelected in 2004: "I fixed Medicaid for you." They believed him, they thought, "Big Daddy will take care of everything." In January 2007, after Bush was reelected, they realized his "fixes" screwed them and benefited big industry.

He lied, they believed him, and he won.

Now Heather Wilson offers us another lie. Even if you and I don"t believe it, many other voters will. They'll think, hey, McCain's not so bad, he's gonna get us out of Iraq, and at least Big Daddy McCain has the military experience, right? We need to reach those voters BEFORE they're seduced by Repub lies.
