Mccain Ad

Two new ads from John McCain's campaign — one of which the campaign says will make it on air — show what they call the media's "love affair" with Barack Obama. The ads feature news personalities — including Joe Scarborough, Tucker Carlson, Lou Dobbs, and Howie Kurtz — discussing Obama-mania in the media, highlight now-infamous statements from the likes of MSNBC's Chris Matthews and NBC's Lee Cowan, and even bring back some Hillary Clinton supporters' statements of media bias towards Obama.

The campaign is currently featuring both videos on its website and asking users to vote to see which one makes it to air. Watch them both below (the only discernible difference is song choice, with the "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" version currently leading the "My Eyes Adored You" version by a considerable margin).

"Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" version:

"My Eyes Adored You" version:

Sure, Chris Matthews is often creepy in his mushiness, but, wow, how can McCain win by arguing that too many people, even jaded media types, are too enthusiastic about Obama (and, by an implied, unspoken adolescent envy, NOT McCain).

All McCain gets from the media is an obsequeous indugence of HIS geriatric creepiness, which he mistakes for fondness. No wonder he's jealous of the new guy in class, who's attracted all the cool kids and left McCain sitting by himself in the lunch room.

They should run those ads A LOT.

Yawn. This proof that medium is not the message. Its like your grandmother wearing hip-huggers and your grandfather calling everyone dude. This wasn't cool. McCain has a message that could appeal to a wide swath of the American voters if he would just stop this nonsense and get on with delivering his message. (Thankfully he won't!) It is not a crime to be old, but it should be a crime to be so pathetic.

I am very happy to see that McCain is helping with the Obama campaign in such a tangible way. I wonder if the Obama campaign is paying Senator McCain to put these ads out? at the very least McCain deserves a thank-you.

The more time and energy they spend whining about us and the people who like us, the better.

I watched the ad and it's three minutes of people saying entirely positive things about Obama. Now I know the dedicated McCainites will see it as 'proof' of unmistakable media bias, but I think everyone else comes away impressed that even in this cynical age, a candidate can generate enthusiasm and discussion.

To be honest, it would make a lot more sense if they put "I'm Barack Obama and I approve of this message" on the end.

And to think that I was worried that Steve Schmidt's presence would create a focussed, effective campaign. I'm not sure that a three minute love letter to your opponent is the way forward.

I love both of the ads. How can the media possibly get excited about McCain? It's not Obama's fault that he is exciting and charismatic. And fortunately he has much more depth than that.

If a significant number of Americans actually decide who to vote for based on whoever the media likes the least, they're even dumber than they think Europeans think they are.

Can somebody PLEASE tell the McCAin staff that REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY stopped working aLONG TIME AGO?

They are trying to "shame" the press into covering more McCain and less Barack. This is TRULY ironic seeing how McCain is getting a free pass for all of his policy changes and geography and cultural gaffes!

Come on Guys! You can't have it both ways!!

Wow, they actually edited together news anchors back to back saying "Barack Obama" 3 times in a row.
How DARE they utter a presidential candidates name. It must be media complicity.
Now let's go get those WMDs.

Unfortunately the media is living up to the conservative complaints for years as a liberal media--I don't believe they are completely biased except this year they have pushed Obama over all others on a simple call for change, even though few of the supporters know what Obama is for--they assume he is for all that they are against in the Bush administration--that is the basic mistake the media is making--Obama has really not faced the present problems facing America and we are not really sure how he will react to them--all of us hope he will react our way---that remains to be seen!

They are just swaying the way the wind is blowing.

They were happy enough to lie for BushCo for years, to report whatever Karl Rove told them to.

How great it feels that we won't be reading that name anymore.

They can't get us to hate Obama, or fear him....so they think showing us how much he is loved will get us to vote..Mcsame? Great strategy!!!
