I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Sherri Abortions

Sherri Shepherd might have a hard time attracting men at the club these days, but before she converted to Christianity she led a promiscuous lifestyle that included "more abortions than [she] would like to count," she told the black Christian womens magazine Precious Times:

"Before I converted to Christianity, I was a Jehovah's Witness. In 1993, my mother was dying from diabetic complications. My sister was heavy into drugs, and we would have to go and get her from crack houses. I was in a very physically abusive relationship. I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count. I had very low self-esteem and just wanted to die. I felt if someone killed me, it wouldn't even make a difference. But God showed me that it would make a difference."

Sherri also told the magazine that some days, she wishes her "View" boss, Barbara Walters, would be "saved":

"Oh sometimes I say, 'Lord, Juanita Bynum or Joyce Myers would be so good at this table. They could lay hands on Barbara Walters and get her saved. I ask the Lord, 'Why am I here?' I have to trust God when He says, 'Because I said so.'"

Sherri's religion came into the spotlight last year after she was unable to grasp the concept of B.C. time, insisting "Jesus came first."

Funny, she could not run her own life at all, so now she wants to tell us how to run ours?

I am pro-choice for so many reasons. I had an abortion15 years ago and the experience haunts me today - pro-lifers, please give me a some room, I have suffered, but my child has not. It was an accident and we used contraception. I am not promoting abortion as a form as birth control but an unfit mother in unfit circumstances has no right to bring a child into this world. Right to Life ppl assume that this act is a flippant thing that women choose to do. In most cases it is the most painful and life altering experience a woman can go through.

My baby is in heaven looking down at me knowing how much I loved them.

I wanted this baby but I knew I could not give it the home, life and environment that a child needs to grow into a whole and adjusted adult. The child I had was given to God as soon as was needed.

It may seem to some as a cop out but I suffer every day. I could have brought this child into the world but not a good one.

I have only have one abortion and it destroyed me but from my point of view, I decided on behalf of the child, not what I wanted. I wanted that baby more than anything but I chose for my child.

The real news here is that there are men out there that would .. ah... put her in circumstances that she would need an abortion.

Since when are Jehovah's Witnesses not Christians? What a bizarre statement.

That is my question also - since when is being a Jehovah's Witness exclude one's being a Christian? Obviously the author of that sentence has no understanding nor insight into the beliefs and teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses.

You ever notice how the most self richeous bible beaters who have been "saved" usually were having lots of sex & drugs in their past.

They had their party and now they want to judge others. It is so hypocritical.

She probably thought that getting an abortion was easier than asking a man to put on a condom. She is obviously not operating with a full deck. She is a terrible example to young people. Let's just hope that there is nobody foolish enough to look up to her.

This post is not about being on a high horse or about judging anyone. Abortions should be avaiable to all women and they should be safe.

But, this is why religion poisons everything. It would have been much easier and less traumatic to take contraceptives and make them available to all men and women regardless of income. Let's take the medieval fables of religion out of the biological drives of humans. We have sex, we reproduce. The church, especially its virgin elders (priests, bishops, cardinals and all other anti-sexual clergy), should stay out of the bedroom

Aren't Jehovah Witness supposed to be virgins or celibate until marriage? It seems that those people who are limited or restrained of biological drives seek them with more vigor and go 'overboard' when they have it.

Jehovah witnesses won't accept a blood transfusion but they are OK with abortions?

No, of course not. Clearly she wasn't living her religion well.

It's blame tactic. Say you were part of something that the vast majority has little or no understanding about and that makes your mindset or you actions okay.

she left the faith... abortions, having sex, or any type of sex without being married is not under the JW faith.

I don't think I would've told that story.
