McCain Explains His Repeated Czechoslovakia Gaffes (VIDEO)

McCain said "Czechoslovakia" instead of the "Czech Republic" at another town hall today. But this time, he caught himself and offered a bit of self-mocking explanation. That makes it the third time in the past three weeks.

"As you know, the Czech Republic and Slovakia split years ago," McCain said with a chuckle. "From time to time some of us misstate and say Czechoslovakia when the fact is, it's the Czech Republic."

"Some of us" could refer to retired senator (and Barack Obama supporter) Sam Nunn, who helpfully made the same gaffe a few days after McCain. But unless Obama picks Nunn for VP, McCain is still alone among office-seekers on this one. Watch the video:

I've watched this a number of times and I think Buush is perfectly aware that he is being taped by someone; probably a member of his staff secretly recording in the background. It's a self effacing move to distance himself and his administration from the economic quagmire we're in and to make it seem like a candid and spontaneous moment.

I still say Yugoslavia although it no longer exists, however, I am not running for President, and if I were, I would make sure to get these facts down pat before I opened my mouth. If you mean that we all get old and confused, that's probably true, but we don't need or want a President at that stage of life. We're already in enough trouble, we don't need a man who refuses to realize he is no longer fit for the job.
