Dear Barack Obama,

Here's a fashion don't: wearing your Blackberry during a meet-and-greet with troops, as you did in Kuwait on July 18th.

Really? Besides looking cumbersome and a little nerdy (a look we normally endorse--big time--but not in this case), it also just seems downright silly. Were you expecting a call? Don't you have a gaggle of staffers handling your urgent messages? Did you not get the memo that said disconnecting once in a while is always in fashion?

Otherwise, you've been looking great these days. Keep up the good work!

Love,

Considering this is the 21st Century, how many people even NOTICE whether or not someone is wearing their cell or PDA? I doubt anyone blinked twice. Or even once, for that matter.
I don't have the kind of life where I NEED anything more than a cell phone (and even IT has more functions than I use regularly), but I feel undressed without it -- after having one for 10 years.
And who says he's expecting ANYTHING? Further, I'll wager many of the troops use one -- if not on the line, then CERTAINLY in off-duty hours.

My life is on my Palm Treo. I find it comforting that he's able to wear his so he has some degree of control over his schedule. Isn't it reassuring to have someone who has a clue and is self-assured enough to carry his? He may well be expecting a text from the girls, or from the boss.
