Former Gov. Eliot Spitzer is a target of a continuing investigation by a state ethics commission into his administration's handling of travel records, people who have been briefed on the inquiry said on Tuesday.
Mr. Spitzer has been sent a so-called 15-day letter by the Commission on Public Integrity, a state panel that has been investigating his former administration. The notice informed him that he was among the subjects of the commission's inquiry.
It is not clear, however, when the notice was sent to Mr. Spitzer, how long he has been a target of the investigation or whether it was sent before he left office. The commission has been investigating since last summer.
