Scarborough Defames Bloggers Who Are Right On 'Surge'

For all of my ideological differences with the man, I've always appreciated the way MSNBC's Joe Scarborough has seemed to applaud and encourage people of all leanings to get engaged in the political life of the country. But I have to condemn his actions this morning, where he launched into an anti-blogger diatribe that was both defamatory and, even worse, cliched. Now, I'll admit that I, having long given up blogging from home (which too often led to shameful practices, like the watching of Judging Amy reruns on TNT), personally benefit from actually coming into an office, where I am encouraged to wear actual pants and am soothed psychologically by the clickety-clack of other people's keyboards. Still, the key difference between me and Joe Scarborough is that I am right on the "Surge" and he is wrong, and changing into my flannel footie PJ's isn't going to change that.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a bag full of crushed up Cheeto dust to mail to MSNBC's Manhattan headquarters.

I think he was kind of kidding about the cheeto stuff. I didn't quite see it as this author did, as being an "anti-blogger diatribe that was both defamatory and, even worse, cliched."

Personally I thought it was kind of hot -- like soft porn for the snack food crowd. If he'd said "Spicy" cheetos, maybe everyone would have seen it my way. Maybe he was just being subtle. I thought he was trying to wake the crowd up -- a little morning quickie with Joe.

And Joe must know of what he speaks, describing with flailing hands and a rising crescendo in his voice the way that "people" (maybe someone special?) get that Cheeto grease all over their hands, rub it all over their bodies, Cheeto dust flying everywhere. Ummmm I get you Joe, I know where you're coming from. Hot Cheeto sex. At least for southern Republicans, it's the best.

Joe and Mica just don't understand that you never make fun of viewers whether they agree with you are not. They pay the bills. These two are rude to viewers they make fun of the emails and call them haters rather than check themselves to determine whether the viewers just might be right. They simply don't care, the laugh at the emails from the viewers it's sickening.

Yea sometimes although Mika is a joke as well his treatment of her is dispicable, disrespectful and she sits there like a lap dog and smiles. Don't forget that no one can get a word in period Joe is rude and cuts them off each and every time they don't agree with him. What a way to treat your guess. It's gotten really bad since Tim died he would come regularly and keep them in line and professional. What a loss.

I like Cheetos. But not the puffy ones. Those are like eating styrofoam packing pellets. I like the crunchy ones.

And in reference to blogs, I think we'd be news deprived without them. I have no loyalty to any one. Though I always make a daily stop at Andrew Sullivan's blog.

With the way news is covered and manipulated on MSM (thinking of the recent Couric-McCain "say and switch") I take every news item with a grain of salt. Of course you have to do that with blogs too, but it's much easier to cross reference and get info you can research further. You become familiar with the blogger's style, and if they get too adamant you realize they may be working from their bias so you can flip to another blog and get another take on it. Somewhere in there someone will touch the truth.

Oh and sympathies to Mr. Linkins - I also got addicted to "Judging Amy". TNT seduced me into watching the whole series through twice. I was about to break free but then they caught me with "Law & Order". They never run out of reruns of that so I guess I won't have a life now. :-)

Bloggers who report gaffs are just doing the jobs of the MSM. However, I agree that the public shouldn't get hung up on a gaff or two, but when it is a weekly occurance from a Nominee, this is something to pay attention to and question.

Are these gaffs signs of his age, ignorance, lack of knowledge, arrogance, lies or carelessness? I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be happy voting for someone with any of those excuses to often and repeated gaffs like McCain's.

Joe encourages comments and only reads the worst ones. I think many of the bloggers go the extra mile for outrageousness.
Joe seems to take more glee in reporting bad or exaggerated news about Obama than he does McCain but he still reports it. This show is well balanced and the fact that he irritates conservatives, liberals and the middle alike shows he is an equal opportunity irritant.

I don't eat cheetos either but I am guessing Joe would be singing a different tune if that gaffe had come from Obama. He and his ilk would run that loop for an entire week and bashing him for it. The double standard is obvious.
