David Brody:

In early August, the Obama campaign will launch a new effort aimed at bringing young Evangelicals together in support of Barack Obama. This effort was going to be called "The Joshua Generation" but the campaign ran into some legal issues using that name. The Brody File has an exclusive sneak peak at what the web launch site will look like. Click here for that.

The new name has not been officially chosen yet but I can give you some details of what it'll be about.

The Obama campaign says they've had an enormous response from younger Evangelicals when it comes to his faith message. So this site will be a gathering place if you will for these younger Evangelicals to get on the same page and start house parties, blog like crazy and organize and volunteer for service projects across America spreading the faith message coming from Obama.

This is grand. David Brody who works for Pat Robertson has a post here.
This is my chance!

Dear David Brody, How does your boss legpress 2000 pounds, more than any other human being has ever lifted? How does your boss hear from God exactly, you know, about who He is angry with and who He is smiting? How does your boss, Pat Robertson, heal people through the tv screen while the cameras are rolling? Please also explain, why your boss helped his son Gordon cheat on his wife and keep the affair hidden, while they continued their on-air "healings" and "words of knowledge" and telling others to confess their sins and repent? Is adultery not a sin for the son of a self-proclaimed holy prophet of God? Also, David Brody, why does Pat Robertson wear those big dentures only some of the time? Also, David Brody, if Pat Robertson can heal why does he not heal his own wife's bald head or his son Gordon's bloated, swollen knees and ankles? Gigi Lacey, Gordon's mistress, described Gordon's legs as softy and fatty to the touch and she said his feet were wide and his toes were fat so why does your boss not put his adulterer fake holyman son on one his famous diets?

I also want to ask David Brody how Gordon Robertson was able to lay his hands on that crippled boy and heal him, then point his finger at the boy's mute sister and heal her too. This is amazing to me and I do not understand why Gordon Robertson does not go around the world laying his hands on the sick and suffering people everywhere and pointing his finger at them too. Since the son of our country's holy prophet of God can work miracles in faraway places, David Brody, why does he not work miracles right here where we can see it with our own eyes? THIS IS NEWS so why is CNN and FOX and CBS, NBC, ABC not reporting this to the public? We have a miracle working mortal in our midst yet no news network is reporting it!
This is so outstanding, especially since Gordon was carring on an extramarital affair with Gigi Lacey during this very extraordinary event.
Please, David Brody, tell us all about your boss and his son and how they are so superhuman yet so inhumane.

Another group that should not vote for McCain, because McCain is an atheist.

I've met many progressive evangelicals who are very concerned about being mis-represented by the Bush Administration and the neo-cons. I also wanted to point out what I thought was in interesting article in the New Yorker called The New Evangelicals:

Am I missing something? Would someone please list a few of the issues where Obama has positions closer to the Evangelicals than McCain?

John McCain doesn't practice a religion at all, he's an atheist.

There are only a few IDIOTS in the Democratic Party that will attack this. We must talk to them gently and rationally, helping them understand that bringing this voting block (the next generation of Judao-Christian Americans - youth concerned with equality, global warming and economic equity) into our tent will aid in building a LONG TERM COALITION that will UNDO the Reagan "Revolution." This is how you get 60 seats in the US Senate - NOT by talking to those that agree with you across the spectrum of issues, enforcing ideological purity by excluding anyone that believes in God or a strong national defense.

REMEMBER: We're talking about tens of millions of votes here over the next few decades. So, don't let the weird, doctrinaire, Old Left convince you that we should abandon the opportunity to lead in favor of some sort of atheistic, proletarian purity. Those folks are bigger nuts than Pat Robertson. For, where they live and work in a powerless vacuum, Robertson moves a considerable portion of the electorate with his wacko, hate-filled rhetoric.

Obama is both practical and wise to pursue the support of these folks. They are active, committed, passionate AND THEY ARE TAKING BACK THE CHURCH IN WHICH WE FOUNDED THE MOST IMPORTANT SOCIO-POLITICAL MOVEMENTS THROUGHOUT AMERICAN HISTORY - from Abolition to Civil Rights.

I'm one of the young evangelicals. I've never voted republican. I'm proud to say I will be voting for Obama in November.

There is a great urge to join in such a powerful wave of enthusiasm that the Obama campaign inspires. Being a child of the 60's, this is not new to me. It resonates very loudly in my psyche. "I want to be a part of this new commotion." Like the peace and love generation, recognizing the pitfalls and shortcomings in a bandwagon is often done in hindsight. No, I don't want to "throw out the baby with the bathwater." I am excited too. But, I am older and wiser now. There are some important discussions that are not taking place. Wherever atheists and faith filled appear to support the same platform silence is hiding clarification of what "we" are supporting. If Obama becomes all things to all people, this endeavor will lose authenticity and become politics as usual.

Caution folks- this is an outreach to a constituency that is undeserved . They are not your daddy's "evangelicals". Before everyone gets their shorts in an uproar remember that the agenda of younger evangelicals is not at all that of the demons Robertson, Falwell or Dobson. They are thinking for themselves.

That's great. David Brody of CBN was right when he wrote: "At this point the Obama campaign is winning the narrative on the younger Evangelical front." Obama is clearly speaking the language of younger evangelicals.

Younger evangelicals are more concerned with issues like the genocide in Darfur; environmental activism; and even the growing economic inequality arouynd the world. This is a clear break with older evangelicals who are glued to the narrower agenda of "GOD, GUNS, and GAYS".

Obama will probably not win most evangelicals, but even if he won say, 25-30% of evenagelicals, which is quite feasible, he looks good this fall in RED STATE, and "PURPLE" STATES.

I have two friends who are young, politically active, evangelical christians, and they tell me that though they disagree with Obama on many issues, he speaks their language in ways that McCain doesn't.

Obama is looking good because his outreach to these younger evangelicals didn't just start. Its been ongoing, for more than a year and a half. It's going to pay huge dividends on election day.

well put, Sean.

I do think the younger generation of Evangelicals by majority will vote for 0bama
I actually know a few middle-aged Evangelicals who are choosing Obama

I hear many of them are upset and recognize they were "used" by GWB

Thanks for some insight into this issue - your comments sound right on point. I applaud Senator Obama's efforts in this area - he really and truly is running an 'inclusive' campaign and is also accurately assessing, targeting and attempting to earn every available vote. Every day in every way he is showing us how to win.

By taxpayer dollars I assume you are referring to his campaign money which comes from private individuals?

FYI, O is not using public financing for his campaign, McCain is.

And please define 'religious extremists'

Do you think Christians who think poverty, the environment, and AIDS are more important concerns than abortion and gay marriage are religious extremists, or do you think the people who bomb abortion clinics are being courted by this guy who upholds abortion rights and gay adoption rights?

Or is the main point to disparage Obama?

Help me out here.

Oh but more importantly, how does David Brody's boss continue using his tax exempt status to organize politically and manipulate his faithful followers, telling them how to think and who to vote for and undermining democracy?
Pat Robertson has found a way to lie and to cheat and to steal and say that God has blessed him. David Brody's boss has a license to defraud his gullible viewers, telling them to touch the tv screen for a miracle and to send their money to him in obedience to God Allllmighteeeee and nobody gives a damn even though fraud is a crime.
Gordon Robertson was raised to take over the very lucrative family "business." Gordon Robertson is just as hypocritical and sleazy as his daddy, as is just as talented as an actor too. He can cry on cue too. Working in the realm of miracles and signs and wonders is very effective with their target audience, their customers, their dupes.

No, he is reaching out to young evangelicals who are still open to new ideas. All part of recognizing that he would president of all the people (gee, what a concept, huh?).

And he has turned down public financing, so how is he using taxpayer dollars to do this?

David Brody's boss, Pat Robertson, has capitalized on stupid people. That conman has made himself wealthy by bilking faithful, gullible souls who believe the stagecraft and dramatic acting to be genuine. Now his adulterer son Gordon is poised to bilk the next generation of faithfuls using on-air healings and words of knowledge. It is the saddest scam in the world.

You judge all evangelicals by a few you've seen in the media, that's outrageous. They are no more extremists than Muslims, which are always linked to Islam extremists. And I guess you believe that Obama is a Muslim, right? Did you know that McCain is an atheist?
