Obama Outraised McCain In Arizona

Barack Obama quietly raised more money in Arizona last month for his presidential campaign than John McCain did, and the Illinois Democrat dominates the overall fundraising map in 43 states and Washington, D.C., records show.

Obama reported $432,000 in donations from Arizonans in June, compared with McCain's $313,000, based on an Arizona Republic analysis of Federal Election Commission records. Neither campaign properly codes all contributions with a state, making it impossible to know exactly where all donations came from.

Since last year, McCain, the presumptive GOP nominee, has raised at least $4.7 million from his fellow Arizonans, double what Obama reports from the state. But donations this year are nearly even: McCain's Arizona donors have given him $2 million. Obama's Arizona donors have given him just $66,000 less.

Is there a need to wonder why McCain would have to spend more time at home? His recent performance is reprehensible. He is not that statesman that I thought was one of the better Republicans. His snide comments, his cowardly jabs at Obama is part of the reason he is doing so poorly at home not to mention he is totally off the mark with
American sentiment about Iraq and Iran.

The most interesting thing about this to me is that the disgruntled Hillary supporters on sites like "Hillary Is 44" rarely if ever reference newsworthy items such as this on their blogs. They are so anti-Obama that they scour the news to post as many negative things about him as they can find. What they can"t find they will makeup or twist positive news about Obama into something shoddy or shameful. It"s like the man is the devil and can do nothing right.

Their logic (or lack thereof) is so twisted that they gleefully quote Rush and Hannity when it comes to anything negative about Obama. Isn"t this the same Rush and Hannity who have unmercifully bashed their beloved Hillary and her husband for years? Their virulent hatred for Obama is so deep that they will side with anyone who is against him. Now a lot of them are bending over backwards to support McCain who is the almost total opposite of the candidate they claimed to support. My favorite quote from them is their condescending "country before party" line they use to justify voting for McCain.

Most of them (based on reading their postings) are no longer pro-Hillary but just anti-Obama. I think the majority of them see that that their cause is lost but refuse to admit the truth.

AZ isn't shifting Blue...it's splitting off towards Bob Barr...Obama is only ahead by default.

Has a presidential candidate ever lost his home state in a presidential election? In this case, would it be more indicative of Obama"s popularity or McCain"s unpopularity? Surely, the voters who best know if John McCain is or is not presidential material are the people whose interests he has represented since 1983. Obama does not have to worry about Illinois. The fact that McCain has to worry about Arizona is ominous indeed.

Yes - Gore lost Tenn in 2000... But, in his defense, he was away from them for 8 years...

You bet we are! Hello from Scottsdale, Arizona where we are giving money, time, and enthusiasm. BTW, I am sitting in my office in Phoenix, just one block from McCain's office where protests are frequently held, but never covered by the media.

Please get someone to record and upload on Youtube. It's very telling when a candidate's own state is against them. The world needs to see the state that Gramps represents doesn't want him as POTUS.

My little brother lives in AZ. He is part of the "religious right," a dyed in the wool hardcore Repug, and he is going to vote for Barr.

I live near Phoenix and just ordered two OBAMA '08 yard signs, and I live in an adult community. My backyard faces the golf course. It will be seem by many as they cart through even though far away.

To be honest I wonder what the poll numbers would be if he had Janet Napolitano on the ticket. Her ratings are so high in the state that she might be enough to put McCane behind or at least in a statistical tie.

A good portion of Arizona residents have always voted for whoever offers low/no taxes (many are transplanted retirees)- and enables them to keep more of their hard earned money. Hence, the continuing re-elections of McCain and Kyl.
However, Arizona is one of the states hardest hit by the housing crisis. People around the state have seen their home values plummet, businesses (esp. construction and tourism related) are starting to suffer, and gasoline is skyrocketing. Arizonians are having to spend more and more of their hard earned money while the value of their assets drop dramatically.
One thing's for sure, if you hit Arizonians in their pocket books, they're going to hit back.

Obama is rubbing elbows with world leaders and discussing policy, while McCain is lost in the dairy section of a local supermarket.

As an Obama support in AZ, I would love to see him win here and McCain finish out his term in the Senate. However, as much as I would like to see Obama campaigning here, I would advise him to save his resources for the real swing states. If Obama is actually able to take Arizona, he won't need it since he will have already achieved a national landslide.

I live in AZ and I can't begin to tell you how many Obama fundraisers happen every weekend! I've also been seeing tons of O bumper stickers... Since McSnob and his wife only fly over us little people, AZ is fed up and I hope we can turn this state blue. Trust me, we're really working on it!

I live in AZ as well. I don't care for McCain, but I'm not falling into all of that Obama frenzy either. It has yet to be seen if all of this Obama cash can buy votes. Spending the most money doesn't always mean people are going to go out and vote. So far neither candidate has made me feel like it's worth my effort and gas money to drive over to a polling place in Nov.

Well if the dollar being down 62%, the stock market in 2000 real dollars being worth half, 3 trillion wasted on the Iraqi war, the deregulation of the credit markets and commodities markets by Repugs/ McCain economic advisor which you are paying for... (all of your insurance will go up to offset the losses the insurance companies had on those investments), If $4 dollar gas and milk, almost no job creation in 7 years, less people with health insurance paying more, real wages down, 20 trillion in housing value lost in the last 12 months alone, 5 trillion in debt run up by Bush, Trade deficts soaring, our MFG base cut in half, with 4.5 million MFG jobs lost, 70% of Americnas with no networth, and so on...

Well if that does not get you moving then there is not much that will get you off your a$$, now is there?.

This "Obama cash" you sound so paranoid about is actually mostely from the pockets, cookie jars, checking/savings accounts and/or credit card accounts of everyday, ordinary Americans, like yourself, but who care enough to read and research the candidates and who perceive clearly who is the best choice for us to save our country. Obviously you haven't tried to learn anything substantive about Obama, for, if you had, you would not be so apathetic, or accuse him of "buying votes." Read some books or do some googling at least. then come and post your opinion.

If you don't see a clear difference between Obama and McCain that will affect your life and your country, then I say there is no hope for you (some people are just too dumb to know the difference).
