McCain Plays Catch-Up: Attends German Restaurant In German Village, Ohio

John McCain is still playing catch up to Barack Obama.

As the Illinois Democrat speaks before the picturesque Victory Column in Berlin today, the Arizona Republican is doing a slightly less exciting form of German outreach. He is having a lunch meeting with small business leaders at a German restaurant in German Village, Columbus, Ohio.

The presidential race, it seems has boiled down to who has the greatest German appeal. McCain's appearance at Schmidts' restaurant, a "Sausage Haus" comes after the RNC launched several advertisements in towns named Berlin.

Among the items he may have ordered include: Sauerkraut-Bratwurst Balls, Hoffbrau Schnitzel, or the Bratwurst, voted the "Best Wurst" by Columbus Monthly.

Sometimes you have to be careful for the things you ask for because sometimes you get it and it's not what you really wanted. Wonder if McCain had to do it over would he start counting how many days since Obama did anything?

The Police spokeman says there were at least 200,000 in attendance. Here is an excerpt from one newspaper.
"Obama drew loud applause as he strode confidently across a large podium erected at the base of the Victory Column in Tiergarten Park in the heart of Berlin.

Police spokesman Bernhard Schodrowski said the speech drew more than 200,000 people, more than double the estimated 75,000 he drew in Oregon this spring."

Who plans this stuff for McCain. Did you see the clip of him making some rambling explanation about something in front of a sign the read "Fudge Haus"? That's even worse than the cheese display. C'mon, everyone knows the backgound creates context.

I really do not want to sound like a complete anti McCain man. However if McCain wants to distinguish him self and gain more media attention, then he needs to do something that makes him stand out in a very positive way that promotes unification throughout the US and the World. He needs to do something that is new and exciting, and definately he needs to leave all the pandering and whinny type acts he has seems to be doing now. This week was just not his time, and I am sure his time will come, he just needs to be patient.

I've been to that place - great buffet - great beer - great neighborhood - terrible parking and too bad for him - -- - it's probably not exactly the right neighborhood/audience one if he's looking for support - this is quite the liberal area of Columbus

BTW--I wouldnt mention how rich the desserts are. Just let customers discover that on their own.
