Rudy Giuliani's Son Sues Duke After Getting Kicked Off Golf Team

DURHAM, N.C. — The son of former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is suing Duke University, claiming he was wrongfully kicked off the golf team.

Andrew Giuliani claims he was dismissed without cause from the golf team earlier this year because coach O.D. Vincent III wanted to cut the team of 13 players by about half. The lawsuit claims the coach has interferred with Giuliani's efforts toward becoming a professional golfer.

Duke University spokesman Keith Lawrence said Thursday the university was discussing the lawsuit but didn't have an immediate comment.

The 198-page lawsuit was filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court by Durham attorney Robert Ekstrand. Ekstrand did not immediately return a message for comment.

NOTHING is prevention A. Guiliani from becoming a pro-golfer except his own abilities; he merely wants to waltz from sometime student to the breezy indolence of "pro-golf"! It would interesting to know what Eckstrand demanded as a retainer and when this "action" will come to court.....­.

Okay, have read many posts on this topic, and I agree prolly frivolous lawsuit. However, you guys delighting in this kids misfortune because of who his dad is speaks volumes about this website in general. Having said that, I'm pretty sure the kid got cut because the other kids were better. Suck it up and try again next year is my advice.

When I was a kid, if you didn't make the cut you got your feelings pinched but you dealt with it. Then again, that was when you got your butt kicked for acting up or being disrespectful. Now, it all depends on your situation. If you're rich and you get your feelings hurt, you sue. If you're poor, you unlease on them verbally or physically. Kids haven't learned that we just plain can't always have our own way.

I don't feel sorry for Andy but he learned golf from the policemen who taught him when his father was not available on weekends. Rudy was too busy appearing at the scene of every high profile criminal case or with his mistresses. The few times he spent any rreal time with his son was at Yankee games that Rudy liked and that made a good photo-op. His mother is paying for his and his sister's education at Harvard. My best friend was friends with Rudy in Manhattan college and another friend is close with Donna Hanover so I know.

you want to improve in your sport and turn pro, but you seem to need more coaching as provided by Duke. so, why did you hire a lawyer and not a coach? grow up baby, it's the nature of team sports to get cut once in a while. my 10 year old has learned to deal with it. what's your problem?
