DURHAM, N.C. — The son of former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is suing Duke University, claiming he was wrongfully kicked off the golf team.

Andrew Giuliani claims he was dismissed without cause from the golf team earlier this year because coach O.D. Vincent III wanted to cut the team of 13 players by about half. The lawsuit claims the coach has interferred with Giuliani's efforts toward becoming a professional golfer.

Duke University spokesman Keith Lawrence said Thursday the university was discussing the lawsuit but didn't have an immediate comment.

The 198-page lawsuit was filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court by Durham attorney Robert Ekstrand. Ekstrand did not immediately return a message for comment.

I've been in the legal document formatting business (that's word processing to you -- we do need some dignity) for quite a while, and 198 pages is an awfully big legal document.

A chip off the old block. It's never a matter of how good you are; it's a matter of how good your lawyers are. Little spastic Andrew wants to play golf, and how dare anyone say he's not good enough.

Dream on everybody knows there is no such thing as a professional athlete from the northeast. They'd fit on a leaflet.

It's not how well you play the game, it's how well you handle how well you play the game.

Really? Going after the guys estranged son even though the kids old man isn't even in the race. This poor kid was getting made fun of when he was still in knee pants. I just saw The Best of Chris Farley and while funny I am glad I am not him. We don't even know if the kids suit has merit, Duke is known for not being so fair to its athletes remember.

I'm very concerned about this. How will he survive? How will he have a career? Why, he's positively disadvantaged.

198 pages? Surely, "I can't accept that I will never be a professional golfer and so am blaming others" could be put into a much shorter document.

Lets sue them. What about performance, merit? Outrageous mentality. Glad his dad is not becoming our prez. (hope he stays out of the cabinet to).

Now what is the position of the Republican Party on Frivolous Lawsuits and Tort Reform?

I know, they are against them.

But that only means lawsuits filed by POOR PEOPLE. We have got to stop that nonsense.

But taking up the time of the courts for frivolous lawsuits by RICH PEOPLE? That is a whole different story.

Lawyers only became a problem when poor people began getting lawyers.

A frivolous lawsuit is one in which the defendant is a Republican Party donor.

"Giuliani’s best finish was a tie for 36th at the Fighting Illini Invitational in Olympia Fields, Ill. His season competition average was 74.5, good for 12th best on the team."

Sounds like a shoo-in for the Masters, eh? What an obnoxious little wuss. Get his lazy butt off to Paris Island and trade his sand wedge in for rifle. That big softie needs some time in Kabul.

Don't R's complain about frivolous laws the most ? Like some others were saying ... they should send him to the world's largest sand trap.

did he have good scores? That's all that matters. If he sux then he would be among the cuts. If not then the coach should explain himself.

Since when do Coaches have to explain themselves?

I'll bet the Court decides Coaches have almost absolute discretion when it comes to who makes the team.

Absolute DISCRETION!
