DURHAM, N.C. — The son of former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is suing Duke University, claiming he was wrongfully kicked off the golf team.

Andrew Giuliani claims he was dismissed without cause from the golf team earlier this year because coach O.D. Vincent III wanted to cut the team of 13 players by about half. The lawsuit claims the coach has interferred with Giuliani's efforts toward becoming a professional golfer.

Duke University spokesman Keith Lawrence said Thursday the university was discussing the lawsuit but didn't have an immediate comment.

The 198-page lawsuit was filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court by Durham attorney Robert Ekstrand. Ekstrand did not immediately return a message for comment.

Ahhh, good times. And then, came the bad times.

Did Duke pass a law that says he can't be a professional golfer? Has he entered any PGA tournaments? (Probably waiting for them to call for a green jacket fitting.)
On second thought this is very upsetting, I find myself in temporary agreement with Phil Graham!
It's time to thin the herd!

Another privileged son of a New York WASP does something at Duke.

Wake me when something interesting happens.

Actually, Rudy is nominally a Roman Catholic (can you say annulment?).

I wanted to be a professional adult actor. Should I sue every woman who shot me down?

Golf? LOL - I didn't even realize that Golf Teams existed - come on - shouldn't this guy be in the Army fighting for the war his dad believes in so strongly?

As for becoming a professional golfer? I didn't realize that you had to be on a Golf Team (that still cracks me up) to become a professional golfer - I thought you just had to be a really, really good golfer...

Instead of suing - he should be practicing and stop the whining.

High schools have golf teams, colleges have golf teams...it is an elitist sport. If he was really that good, he would already be on tournnaments or be working at a golf course FOR a professional golfer...or caddying for one. This IS a stepping stone too, however, spoiled brat or not. He would be on the team if he could make the cut. I expect he didn't make it. Why go from 13 to 6 tho, I wonder. Finances? At DUKE? Hummmm I don't think you should paint him with rudy's brush.

Actually, I understand that golfing is very big in the Air Force.

So shouldn't he be practicing his golf swing in Anbar or his putting in Kandahar?

The military has, meaning we own, at least 200 golf courses. Here's an article about them.

I've also read that there are numerous expensive aircraft available for the high muckedy-muck officers to fly around to these courses.

What? The son of a Republican trying to bankrupt the education system? Didn't his father ever tell him that cases against the education system, just like those ridiculous law suits against doctors who removed the wrong part of a person's anatomy do nothing but make lawyers rich and cause medical expenses to go up.

I wonder what Rudy and his clone say about an African-American or Native American with a 4.0 GPA and assorted scholastic honors suing to get in ahead of some 2.1 GPA legacy.

Typical repug. Something goes wrong and he runs whining to a Millionaire
trial lawyer to make things right.

Then his daddy whines about how there's too many trial lawyers in this
country.

The real reason he can't be a professional golfer is because of 9/11.

You'd think that 9/11 would've furthered his golf career, but no.

I love it. The party of personal responsibilities is raising a bunch of babies that believe their entitled to everything. Why doesn't this cry baby make it on his own? Oh that's right, because everything his lying father has is compliments of the taxpayers.

You would think just being excepted by Duke would be good enough. Ah, the lifestyles of the rich and pitiless.

Ironic, isn't it?

Not sure on Rudy lying, but this suit definitely seems frivolous and the 'whining' aspect does seem... relevant. Or is it another 'do as I say, not as I do' scenario?

He intends to show in court that he would become a professional golfer if only he could manage to keep from getting cut from his college golf team? Good luck in court with that argument- should be good for a chuckle if Court TV covers it...

If he is successful, maybe he can go on to sue the PGA for a green jacket, on the basis that he could become a champion golfer, if only the PGA didn't discriminate against him for his poor golf scores...

Let me get this straight, he got cut from the team and thats grounds for a law suit? WTF?

I read his stats in another article. It's sort of a miracle he got ON the golf team.

Yeah, I second what you say.

All he has to do is cite the 9/11 defense. You know, where he is related to bigger-headed Giuliani, the hero and savior of 9/11. For without his heroic speeches, the city would have plunged into darkness and annihilistic mayhem. By re-admitting the smaller-headed Giuliani back to the golf team another 9/11 disaster will have been averted, and Christianity will have been rescued from the grips of Islam.

Man, this stuff just writes itself.

I wonder if this cutback in the golf team relates to any financial tightening. It's far more pronouced at state universities but it wouldn't surprise me.

Did Andrew learn a lesson here? People get cut from jobs all the time and they can't sue!! Why should a college kid? Advice to Andrew: TRANSFER TO ANOTHER COLLEGE. (i thought he should have graduated by now, no?)
