Rudy Giuliani's Son Sues Duke After Getting Kicked Off Golf Team

DURHAM, N.C. — The son of former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is suing Duke University, claiming he was wrongfully kicked off the golf team.

Andrew Giuliani claims he was dismissed without cause from the golf team earlier this year because coach O.D. Vincent III wanted to cut the team of 13 players by about half. The lawsuit claims the coach has interferred with Giuliani's efforts toward becoming a professional golfer.

Duke University spokesman Keith Lawrence said Thursday the university was discussing the lawsuit but didn't have an immediate comment.

The 198-page lawsuit was filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court by Durham attorney Robert Ekstrand. Ekstrand did not immediately return a message for comment.

Don't just rely on HuffPost for your news. He wasn't "cut" like many of your comments insinuate for failing to be in the top 6, he was essentially banned in what is alleged to be a case of vindictiveness by his coach possibly based on the coaches feelings about Andrew's father. Doesn't Duke faculity taking absurd positions against those they find politically incorrect sound familiar? Andrew's lawyer is one of the lawyers who successfully represented the Duke Lacross (sorry no spell checker today) team. This will probably be a repeat performance.

When I was in high school in Baltimore I was on the varsity golf team in the 9th grade.

The next year I quit golf forever in order to play on the much more glamorous lacrosse team.

I hear Duke usually has a pretty good lacrosse team. Why not try it?

If the coach hadn't cut six other palyers, you might have a point. Frankly, even if he was technically a better golfer than some of those retained (which I certainly couldn't vouch for one way or the other), ifthe coach thought someone else had more potential or simply worked better as part ofthe team, he'd still haev every right to cut him.

The law suit seems to imply that he has some "right" to be on the team, which is an opinion I'm fairly certain has yet to be written into law.

Why does HuffPost keep publishing non-news nonsense like this? Whatever credibility this website had has been slipping away steadily over the past year or so as it embraces fads, fashion, celebrity publicity and sucker punches like this one. I get it, your focus groups and market research told you that was how to broaden your advertising audience and base. As for this non-story, I think his father is a creep and was pitiful excuse for a major candidate for the presidency, but geez, leave his kids alone.
