Falls Church News Press:

The former national chairman of the Democratic Party who ran Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign this year told 200 Democratic activists in Fairfax County Tuesday that Virginia Governor Tim Kaine would be his party's best choice as Barack Obama's vice presidential running mate.

...

McAuliffe was adamant in his recommendation of Kaine as the Democratic Party's vice presidential nominee Tuesday, although he stressed to the News-Press after his speech, which included an informal half-hour question and answer period, that the ultimate choice will be Obama's very personal one.

However, the fact that he proposed Kaine over his own candidate and long-time friend, Hillary Clinton, suggested that he knows the Clinton option is off the table.

"...the Clinton option is off the table." Duhhh. Could have called that back in May.

If Terry is saying it, HRC must not want it!

Let's be honest: Hillary Clinton was NEVER in the running no matter what anyone says. However I do think Evan Bayh of Indiana will get the VP nod. But Terry and Hillary can never mention or publicly support that move at this time.

Hillary and her clan are still plotting to run again in 2012 and/or 2016. But her run will be made very difficult if Obama selects one of her close supporters as his VP choice. That VP (such as Evan Bayh) could have the ability to sway a lot of "Clinton voters" to support an Obama/Bayh ticket, which would make it very difficult for her to run against her former ally (Bayh). Also, if the much younger Evan Bayh is VP for 8 years, HE would inherit front runner status to make a run for President himself in 2016, which would potentially make Hillary obsolete.

So look for Hillary, Terry, and all of her cronies to suggest all sorts of potential VP names....EXCEPT names like Bayh who were once for Hillary. A guy like Bayh could tap into her voter base and further ruin her one big elusive political goal. She doesn't want any more obstacles for her next run for the presidency.

Anyone but Hillary is certainly my choice, and it's because I wouldn't want her connected with Obama.

Oh, don't worry....HRC connected to a WINNING Democrat? There is not connection. She'll be lucky to keep her Senate seat.

Hillary is too smart to settle for vp. She'd make a great Secretary of State, IMHO.

As former national chairman of the Democratic Party it does not surprise me that McAuliffe would endorse Virginia Governor Tim Kaine as VP while giving a speech to Democratic activists in Fairfax County Virginia. I would also expect him to do the same with creditable candidates in other locals. He’s just playing to the crowd.

This is irrelevant and so is McAuliffe.

I think it would be good to look beyond the Senate. We need to pick up seats in the Senate, not put Obama's and another Dem's seat in play............we need 60 seats.

Without 60 seats, nothing will get done and the republicons will scream blame at Obama and the Senate.

On the other hand, with 60 seats, McCain could do no damage to the Supremes.

You do not understand McAuliffe? Follow the money. He is positioning himself to run Gov. Kaine's campaign in 2016. Yep, that's what it's all 'bout!

We could do a lot worse than Kaine, but I don't think he'll be the front runner for VP. Virginia elects its Lt. Governor on a ballot line separate from the Governor, and that would make the sitting GOP Lt. Governor a potential incumbent going into the 2009 election.

Obviously he changed his mind when we found out about the love child!

Yeh, and even thought there is no evidence - no video, no named witnesses besides the reporters, no video, etc

The reporters were there and caught him!

The question now is - who tipped them off?

Remember, the National Enquirer is now owned by friends of Hillary.

They bought the paper when they were sure that Hillary was going to be the candidate.

Edwards is surely off the VP list.

Hmmmm.

Besides all that - John Edwards made his living as a lawyer. If the story is not true, whey is he not being them to court?

The fact that there's no evidence of a love child doesn't matter. The Repubs would say it over and over and over again until people started to believe it. John Edwards would never be able to convince the general public that it's a lie. Besides, he couldn't even carry his home state in 2004, could he?

Who cares what he says, etc. The man is a clown.
