Heather Mills' Publicist Quits, Calls Her "Impossible"

"Extra" has learned that Heather Mills' publicist, Michele Elyzabeth, has decided to quit after representing the former Mrs. Paul McCartney for the past four years. In a statement obtained by "Extra," Elyzabeth declares:

After working for Heather Mills for the past four years, I have decided to cease representing her. Since her divorce has become final, in my opinion, Heather has become an impossible person. Yesterday, we engaged in a heated argument during which she called me "stupid". I reminded her that she was not "God" and she answered, "I will never ever talk to you again". I have been very patient in my dealings with Heather, however, I cannot take any more. I have given her substantial unpaid time and attention. I am owed money. I refuse to be subjected to her outbursts. On reflection and given the way I have been treated, I now have sympathy with much of what the British Press has reported about her.

I don't care how crazy Mills is or how much money she owes the publicist, you don't reveal to the public private dealings with a client.
And a publicist, more than anyone, knows that.
One of the main reasons one hires a publicist is to garner a positive image in the press. The process is used more by those who are predisposed towards having a negative image. A publicist knows this -- or SHOULD know this -- before they decide to get into the publicity business. By necessity, therefore, part of the process that a client must go through with a publicist in planning strategies is discussing all aspects of one's personality. This means having close contact with someone whom the publicist knows has a predisposition towards being negative. A publicist doesn't take on a client without accepting that beforehand.
The client-publicist relationship, therefore, is one of confidentiality. Has to be or it couldn't work for anybody...just like a lawyer-client or Priest-parishioner relationship is confidential.
Michele Elyzabeth violated that bond and should never work in the field again.

lol, no, it is not priest-penitent or lawyer-client. Being famous and employing someone to spin your image is not a license to be abusive to an employee, and there are consequences for doing it.

...but the consequences shouldn't be the very opposite of what the publicist is being paid for, which is positive publicity, not negative publicity.
If the publicist doesn't like the way they are being treated, they should resign. Quietly.
If the publicist believes the client still owes them money, hire a collection agency.
This publicist should get out of the business...

Still. It's not professional for someone in public relations to go on the record with a negative rant like that. If she owes money, sue her. If you're going to open the door like this, you might as well write a tell all book and go the full distance. Who wants to hire a publicist that may slam you in the press if the professional relationship goes sour?
